  1. name one movie that kim novak co-stars with a llama.
  2. she was much nicer to bill holden in torwards the unknown.
  3. I like daws butler's wolf character especially in 'billy boy'.
  4. didn't he play 'bomber' in I am a fugitive from a chain gang?
  5. somebody get back to this thread and clue us in if tonite's showing is the edited or unedited print. it should be the complete unedited print but hey... this is tcm.
  6. when tcm goes off on one of their increasingly frequent primetime eclectic binges like tonite for instance, I look at what's on MOVIES! or decades. I will take this opportunity to ask this question... when oh when will tcm ever replenish the contents of their fixed film coffer? with some new contents. films they haven't shown before like The Flame Barrier, a Gardner-Levy sci-fi gem from 1958. that's the one where arthur franz, kathleen crowley and robert brown find that alien protoplasm exuding downed satellite in a cave in the mexican jungle. tcm can't get a hold of that? I woan even mention...Hot Spell. one of shirley booth's handful of pictures. but tcm woan show it.
  7. I be undemandingly satisfied with just 720p resolution.
  8. Guillermin was underrated. every film I've ever seen directed by him I've enjoyed. what watchability the dino de laurentis king kong remake has is a testament to his directoral ability. his skill was leagues ahead of any modern disaster film director in hollywood today. we lose another old school A-1 craftsman. helluva shame.
  9. she'll be along later on tonite in house of dark shadows as collins family matriarch elizabeth collins stoddard. jean simmons would take over the role in the 1991 nbc dark shadows revival.
  10. Guillermin also directed the 1976 dino de laurentis remake of king kong featuring the world trade center towers.
  11. what an underrated guy. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/02/movies/john-guillermin-towering-inferno-director-dies-at-89.html?_r=0
  12. why would you cast kristin wiig of all people in a serious science fiction survival film? answer: you wouldn't but the hollywood of 2015 will. this sorta thing was done much better 50 years ago by ib melchior and paul mantee. this just looks silly to all but the most dumbed down teen and twentysomethings. pitiful. what would really be something is for someone of today's hollywood could make a science fiction film that would have appeal to ALL generations of americans and the rest of the world as well. the young AND the old. this is what is marginalizing hollywood torwards it's decline. if you can only think for fifteen year-olds then you gotta problem.
  13. getting into this dvr schtick just ain't worth it to me. my vcr works dependable enough plus I think viewing something on vcr playback is just plain faster and uncomplicated. maybe that's what tarantino likes.
  14. yeah, but that kinda unforgivable discontinuity is mostly the fault of universal behind-wipes who decided to just disregard son of frankenstein. another thing I doan like is the monster played by chaney jr. turning on ygor. doan like that at all. no sir! in son of frankenstein the monster woulda done anything for ygor. ghost of frankenstein is where they really begun to let the franchise get away from them but it opens well what with the locals storming the frankenstein castle and ygor hilariously laughing down at them all chucking down loose stones on 'em even. man, that is fun.
  15. I love it! sure the continuity is wrong but so what. doan forget with son of frankenstein we learn that the 'Von' Frankenstein's (hey, that means they're german aristocracy) have been around for 700 years! they even have an intensifying sulphur pit to prove it. it coulda been much better dramatically though, instead of the monster scaring some dumpy old nanny, I woulda liked mrs. frankenstein to meet the monster. still, we learn a lot here when rathbone examines the monster finding that he is superhuman with fantastically high BP systalic and diastalic and a heartbeat of over 300 beats per minute "he's completely superhuman!"
  16. besides my current operational vcr I got two on standby and I'm loaded with tapes. I still have packaged vhs tapes not even opened. onward into the future!
  17. the prisoner of second avenue tomorrow morning at eight fifteen. this time I looked! I'm a-gonna get that on my vcr, tcm.
