  1. I must admit to not watching the whole film in many years (I first saw it on the cbs late movie) but what is it that happens to neely after she collapes or passes out in the alley? the film ends with barbara parkins getting off the bus in a wintry landscape that I guess is vermont.

but what is it exactly that happens to neely in the alley? did she croak?

  2. I think there's the old school group of Walt fans, and the newer generation that does not even know one fraction of Disney's history/legacy.

everything since Aladdin outta disney looks like it was animated by ritilin-impelled hyperactive people...and they're shameless plagiarizers as well. the lion king was stolen from osamu tezuka's jungle emperor otherwise known to some of us as 'kimba the white lion'.

LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Walter Lang. Susan Hayward, James Mason, Julie Newmar, Robert Paige, June Clayworth.

"Film version of Leslie Stevens' saucy play about marriage: Mason is professor attracted to free-love-oriented Newmar. Amusing, but lacks real bite."

I always thought the dolls were the three babes.

  4.

I also looked through the IMDB and Wiki pages for Lynda Carter without success.

I did find the following movies with the "fake death" theme for other stars, but none of them appear to be a complete match.  You might check them out and see if anything rings a bell.

the familiar stranger might be it. on that cover margaret colin does look a tad like lynda carter. maybe all these years I mistook margaret colin for lynda carter.

  5. I always getta kick outta this one. paul newman back from korea and his dad the colonel properly proud and grateful and then the big surprise! great drama. an interesting watch throughout and I suppose you can make a case for the torments of psychological brainwashing but I can't help feel there is an intent on the part of the filmmakers to excuse or at least minimize collaboration with the enemy.

  6. My favorite Yogism: "I never said most of the things I said."

Here's his appearance in the 1962 comedy "That Touch of Mink" with Cary Grant, Doris Day, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris:

cary, doris and yogi, whatta team! :)

  7. Being that Yogi Berra was in a few films including That Touch of Mink with Doris Day I feel it is okay to honor him here at his passing with some favorite Yogisms. My personal favorite is when he said "It's like deja vu all over again." Now you can add yours. Thanks for the memories, Yogi!

should it be yogism or yogi-ism? :D

  8. I still kind of doubt that. And as the old saying goes,

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

terrorists are not vague everymen. they are murderous psychopathic berserkers. would you characterize the 9/11 hijackers as freedom fighters?????????

  9. I just think poor confused lara shoulda appreciated her true knight in shining armor, kamerovsky, more than she did. :D

and I'll tell ya somethin' else...

just my opinion but rita tushingham's appearance (face) is an insult to julie christie's beauty.

doan mean to sound harsh but that's how I see it. :D

  10. HEY now Vautrin! I sure hope you're not clumpin' ME in with those types here!

'Cause I AT LEAST know what "Hamas" is, dude!

That's that stuff my wife buys at the supermarket and tells me it's much healthier for me to dip my potato chips in than that stuff made with sour cream and dried onion flakes!

(...remember, you're not always talkin' to chimps here, my friend!!!)

even the youngest americans with their iphones and such should know that hamas and hexbollah are jew-hating terrorists.

  11. If enough voters agree with the way Carson thinks and feels, he could be the next President.

I find it refreshing when a candidate speaks the truth about what he thinks - even if it's something that I personally think is not justified by my own experience or processes of logic.

It's lying about themselves that bothers me much more than their honesty about themselves.

    I agree! :D

  12. For an intelligent guy, Carson does say a lot of stupid things.

I believe his politics gets in the way of his smarts. Even Ted

Cruz jumped on Carson's remark, so it's not just a case of the

MSM trying to stir things up. Carson has made a lot of weird

comments over the last few months, so this is nothing new.

I do like his low key style, but I don't know if that will work in

    today's politics.

You can't really think that 90% of the black vote is Muslim, can

you? It's likely closer to 9% than 90%.

no, I certainly do not. the problem is rather that 90% of black america is too sympathetic to radical islamic berserkers like isis, hezbollah and hamas. that's the problem. carson's whole candidacy is a mistake anyhoo. he would be clueless what to do as potus and would of necessity have to take instructions from the current gop establishment. same thing with fiorina. she may be smarter than trump but he will tell the gop establishment to go bleep themselves and she wouldn't.

  13. what's goin' on here? america knows...some of us anyways. why is Dr. Carson being denigrated as an anti-muslim by the mainstream news media? answer: because hillary is worried about the black vote...90% of which are muslim. And if she's worried naturally the mainstream media is worried with her. she, the news media and the democrats well know that african-american voters vote on the basis of race,

    so...
so the news media now paints ben carson as an anti-muslim. cute? old news because the mainstream media's cuteness goes back more than 50 years now. right back to nixon vs. kennedy.  so they fool no one, the arrogant little cute-inskies. :D
    journalistic objectivity? too restrictive.

unfair of course. because gop candidates should not hafta run against their democratic opponents AND the news media too.

but after five decades i am sure they are quite used to it. :D

    onward with the trumpster!

  14. ;) Tuesday, September 22, TCM is making "robots" the theme of the daytime programming. I was wondering if any notable film stars were born on this day, Paul Muni is one, there doesn't appear to be anyone else that I could see.  ---  Oh well, robots it is. --- We have the  landmark classic METROPOLIS on first thing in the morning followed by THE TIN MAN , a Thelma Todd / Patsy Kelly comedy that should be good. Then comes two 50's sci fi classics, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL and FORBIDDEN PLANET. Both are  note worthy but aren't these films getting into NORTH BY NORTHWEST territory for overplay? I know some people will get  really riled about that.  THE INVISIBLE BOY is next (any good?) ,  another 50's low budget film that I see has "Robby the Robot" in it (they sure got  a lot of mileage out of that guy).  The next film is (in my humble opinion) the feature of the day,  THE ROBOT VS THE AZTEC MUMMY , I don't believe I've seen this since LBJ was president.  Set the recorders for this classic.  2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY and WESTWORLD  finish up the day, both popular in their day but I'm not sure how well they have held up over the years.  So,  if you're into the "robot thing" , Tuesday is your day.  I expect everyone will watch  THE ROBOT VS THE AZTEC MUMMY, there will be a quiz to follow on that one. :)

ROBOT VS THE AZTEC MUMMY might be the only K. Gordon Murray english-dubbed mexican import tcm has in it's coffer.

  15. need some help finding a tv-movie starring Lynda Carter. it coulda been one of them lifetime network moment-of-truth movies but I'm not sure. I can't quite determine what movie this was from her IMDb filmography. she plays the widowed mother of two teenage boys and one day she sees her supposedly deceased husband getting into a car in a parking lot. she finds out that hubby, a military officer, has faked his own death.
it's quite well-acted and lynda carter is completely believable as the shocked and dismayed widow. anyone know what film this is?

  16. Here's the trailer for THE INVISIBLE BOY:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-OG8a13vV8

    "Are you ready, Robot?"

    "Ready, Master."

the invisible boy despite great production values is by far one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. philip abbott's dialogue is laughable. the scene with invisible timmy bothering the scientists at the table you doan wanna miss. the movie is completely idiotic and I always watch it for it's very entertaining lameness. :D

the invisible boy is so awful it makes tobor the great look like a masterpiece because at least that film's makers took the subject matter seriously. :)
