  1. I disagree, Dargy. I will always believe in the prerogative of a free people to be cynical. should the cynical be compelled to vote against their will?...

and if multitudes of people are too cynical to wanna vote it's because 'politicians' like hillary have been jerking them around for decades. just look at the trump phenomenon. people are supporting him and ben carson over establishment politicians.

same thing with the democrat voters who are enamored of bernie sanders over the very same old hillary and her vague as always rhetorical hs. :D

the two party establishments are underestimating the desire in the hearts of the voters both liberal and conservative alike for their candidate to be honest with them about what they think and believe. people are starting to become suspicious of candidates with polished demeanors like hillary and perhaps the current potus has been helpful in that respect. :D

  2. Hell, Cid! I'll go ya one BETTER here, dude!

The REAL "root problem" is STILL that the vast number of POTENTIAL and ELIGIBLE voters don't even get off their lazy freakin' DUFFS and GO to the polls come each and every major election!!!!!!!!

(...yeah, yeah, I know...now comes the cry from the peanut gallery around here that "if they had someone of worth to actually vote for" this wouldn't be the case, BUT I hope you know out there that IF EVEN 25 percent MORE of those of whom I speak here WOULD get off their lazy freakin' duffs, the political landscape of this country would look A LOT different than it does now!!!!!!!!)

  3. Ooooh...NOW I getcha, ND!

You mean more like that good ol' down home plain-speakin'  gal from Alaska who tryin' to stretch out her 15 minutes of fame as long as she can, RIGHT?!

(...yeah, the one who just the other day said she thought immigrants to our shores should, and I quote, "learn to speak American", RIGHT?!)

    LOL

you betcha! :D I hope the donald puts in her in charge of the dept. of fish and game so all the liberal heads will explode.

  4. 'CAUSE of course James, with Hillary bein' a woman and all, if SHE'D talk like Trump does, SHE'D be accused by the people who believe in all this "traditional stuff" (and who somehow think the renaming of Mt. McKinley back to its original name is yet just another example of "our continual slide toward a cultural abyss")  of bein' a word that rhymes with "witch"!  And of course, THIS  is somethin' Trump could NEVER be accused of being.

(...yep, there's that ol' double standard thing comin' into play again, huh!) ;)

oh come on, Dargy, in no way am I suggesting that she favor us all with a bad doris day impression but she really oughta try to sound and act a little bit more regular.

  5. Why can't Hillary Clinton talk the way she wants to talk?     If you don't like it don't listen to her.

about listening to hillary I'm neither hot or cold. the issue is her being able to connect to people and winning their trust and faith.

how is she going to do that by relentlessly coming across like she's Katharine Hepburn in The Lion in Winter?

  6. Speaking of "American English," please learn grammar or how to spell or how to type.  Also when to use capital letters.  Thank you.

I haven't noticed that either Sanders or Clinton were not speaking in plain "American English."

my only point is that the woman seems incapable of simply talking to people in an average everyday manner.

she never speaks publically unless it is with this poised rotary club luncheon demeanor. imagine someone speaking to you 24/7 in the tone of an elementary school teacher. can't she just talk to people without behaving like the balance of the entire time-space continuum isn't hanging on her every syllable? :)

  7. Well, ya know DGF, I've said for YEARS now that Americans are suckers for "bombast".

I mean, WHY the hell do you think I USE all these freakin' uppercase letters in almost all of MY posts around here, HUH?!

BOMBAST, dude, BOMBAST!  It grabs the attention of SO many people out there, ol' buddy!!! It's always those mealy-mouthed little eggheaded intellectuals that never get any airtime, ya know! Nope, THAT kind'a thing just BORES 'em to death.

(...AND add in a little folksy shtick now and then by use of  "good ol' American plain speakin' ", and you're BOUND to be in like Flynn with a fairly large segment of our society!) ;)

    LOL

BUT if mealy-mouthed intellectuals like Bernie Sanders and Hillary are so dam honest then WHY NOT speak to us in good ol' colloquial american english?

is it that they think they're so bleeping brilliant or that we're all so bleeping stupid that they feel the need to intellectually patronize us with their higher thoughts from an altogether higher plain of metaphysical existence. most people usually have an intuitive sense of when somebody is being straight with them or is just handing out the bs.

I take colloquial terminology not so much as an indicator of an absence of knowledge or intelligence but rather as an outer expression of candor and forthrightness....something that Hillary Clinton seems to be having a great deal of difficulty working up to. :)

she says she has exhorted her menials to fully cooperate but this tataglioni fella has taken the fifth....

why oh why have we even questioned her inate goodness?

    shame on us all! :(

  8. I get such a pang of nostalgia when I watch - or even think of - 'Route 66'.

That world of the early 60's seemed almost perfect in its growing liberalism, it's optimistic future, its car coolness. Sure, I know being 12, 13, 14, has a lot to do with my perception of that time in America, but I guess that's what nostalgia is. I liked Milner very much in that series.

Didn't care for Adam-12 one bit.

but I'll bet you loved Dragnet. :D

  9. I still think Jeb! has a good chance to win the nomination.

There's usually all this angst, but in the end the establishment

guy usually wins it. We'll see.

the gop foul-ups wanted Romney in 2008 but round up with the world's slowest candidate mccain because alotta people, including trump and myself, bought his hs and believed he would put up a fight instead he channels tim conway from the carol burnett show.

I think at this point the gop establishment bleepheads have very little credibility left with their electorate so if they want jeb a fed up electorate will probably put the kibosh on it.

how many chances to these foul-ups want from us?

they've had more than their share of chances and have just about screwed the pooch every time.

maybe trump can do better. I doan see how he could do much worse.

  10. The Sea Hawk has been colorized.

then let tcm show it and colorized prints of Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House and Chain Lightning also.

    give colorized films a chance.

suppose, hypothetically, someone found a technicolor print of citizen kane. tcm would not show it to curry favor with black & white purists?

tcm had been airing the colorized print of howard hawks' The Thing before they decided to chicken out. :)

  11. the gop electorate has had it! they can plainly see that gop leaders are bleeped in the head...badly!

for one thing over 40 votes in the house to try and repeal the affordable care act???

that is some kind of mental retardation.

and the gop electorate has determined that they doan like it! enough! these foul-ups have had their chance in a hundred different ways including...

McCain, Romney as well as seven worthless state of the union address responses. why didn't they let cruz give a response? at least he woulda said something!

and now we're supposed to empower jebbykins???...HS!

gop voters ain't buyin' the gop establishment bs anymore. they want an alternative.

    they got one! :)

what? the gop leadership doan like it?

    bleep 'em. :D

  12. Jake ol' boy, ever consider the thought it MIGHT BE less Trump's "positions" on issues that make so many Americans question him as being a legitimate candidate for the office he seeks, but MORE the manner in which he presents his "positions" to the public?

Think back to his very first little press conference in which he made the comment, "...and I assume there are some good people who come here illegally."

Ya see, to MY way of thinkin' here, one of ANY Presidents' major job functions is to be "the mouthpiece" of America's goals and expectations to the rest of the world, and ANY President who can NOT perform this basic function and represent this country whenever they open their mouth to speak and in as much a statesman-like manner as possible...well...THOSE kinds of Presidents have always made me just a little embarrassed of this great country of ours!

maybe the american people are getting tired of the career politician mouthpiece bs and just want SOMEBODY to talk to them in a frank manner in colloqual english. :)

  13. Do you mean that Dean Jones has died?

How come everyone says "pass away" now instead of "died" ? What's wrong with the word "die"?

When my life  comes to an end, I will come back and haunt anyone who says I "passed away" instead of "died".

By the way, he was as you say, in many fun Disney movies. But his film work includes a lot more than those.

okay, dean jones has croaked at age 84. :D
