the eps I've watched it seems to me that walter knows pretty well that maude's problem was she took herself far too seriously and he knew exactly how to zing her at times.
one of my favorite episodes has carol's son phillip peddling trinkets like cigarette lighters and coming on like a slick businessman and maude and carol get very upset by Philip's enthusiasm but walter gives him encouragement and even buys a lighter off of him and asks Philip to get more for his buddies.
walter tells both maude and carol to leave the kid alone because he knows what he's doing.
a very funny ep.

I hope that Ron will be alright.

Nip, I agree with pretty much all you have to say, but I don't think it is liberal leadership. It is more complex than that. You can thank several things. Very chief among them was this -"Infomercials proliferated in the United States after 1984 when the Federal Communications Commission eliminated regulations that were established in the 1950s and 1960s to govern the commercial content of television." ...from the Wikipedia. It's much more profitable for stations to have six hours of actual content and sell the other 18 hours a day to the highest bidder than rerun movies or TV shows. Plus there is just the dumbing down of the average American viewer. In August 1971 CBS aired a British mini series "The Six Wives of Henry VIII". That was the basis for Masterpiece Theatre in later years. Today we have "The Masked Dancer"! The smarter shows are on HBO, Netflix, Amazon, etc. They don't require censorship or sponsors.
what you say sounds about right but I'm not gonna dicker with my cable provider just to get back tcm.
why should I?...they never even put on Hot Spell for me.

what a a terrible loss for the man,
I hope he keeps in mind that millions love him as perhaps the best actor to ever play tarzan.
-
tcm was the only real reason I had left to watch TV since it went to the dogs years ago under liberal leadership.
today's TV offerings are a absolute mockery of what american TV once was.
so they take from us maybe the only non-premium channel with uncut movies and no commercials.
to comcrap I say...
"that's why you hate em! hate his friends!...
and that's why you're beaten!
the american tv space cadet can still think!"

I feel sorry for him and the tragedy that unfolded at his home. a good actor who never got nearly the amount of credit he deserved for being the actor to play tarzan best.
I hope he'll be alright.

Funny, I was just about to buy this from TCM.com:

They call it a: Brass Praxinoscope Collectible
It comes with 43 card strips!
that might be good for a short 50 foot woman image.

I glanced through the mp4 and I kinda lost interest and I ain't gonna go through the hassle of changing my cable package...
for what?
a channel that keeps drawing from it's forever unchanging coffer of films?
uh-uh, they can whistle for the extra ten dollars.

I wish someone would post the scene where hector Elizondo gropes the hooker.

-
that's right so I downloaded it and will put it on a disc and watch it on my portable DVD player.
I woulda watched it tonite on tcm if I could have.
-
-
because I and others no longer have tcm we will not be able to watch this excellent four star F.W. Murnau silent tonite.
thanks tcm.
"you win a cookie." -don rickles

What about Jackie Brown ... ?
I meant more of a William Shatner captain kirk kinda thing. forster had that old school hero kinda screen persona and you see a little of that in The Black Hole.

all of the marvel comics of the 1970s oughta be reprinted so these millennial/Generation X losers can see how it should be done and how laughingly poor what they think good is.

-
a good actor who never got a good role he could hang on to.
he woulda made a good starship captain or admiral or something.
he had that hero screen persona imo.
