Two words: Ricky Gervais. Who will never be hired as Oscar host.
IF the HFPA wanted to get THE ULTIMATE REVENGE for the MASS SNUBBING, then they should hire RICKY GERVAIS to "accept on the behalf" of all the winners.
I, for one, WOULD LOVE to hear what he'd have to say when K-STEW inevitably wins for PRINCESS DIANA CASH GRAB BIOPIC #322.

You could also celebrate the end of the Globes by having your own Pia Zadora film festival.
EVERYONE DUMPS ON PIA JUST BECAUSE HER HUSBAND BOUGHT HER THAT GOLDEN GLOBE THAT ONE TIME!!!!!
I personally have always felt that as a result, that certain je ne sais quoi that PIA undeniably HAS has been ignored:

He was best as a fan. But I love his first, TARGETS (not that it's a great film, but he coaxed Karloff into doing the film. Karloff was, as expected, brilliant), and THE LAST PICTURE SHOW.
I LOVE “TARGETS”!!!

So the Golden Globes are generally acknowledged to have no merit or credibility, but they are (were) to me fine viewing entertainment.
That's all it's worth and I mourn its televised demise.
YES!!!!!!
It used to be ONE HELL of a show- all around. Even after I quit on THE OSCARS I still would watch bits and pieces of THE GLOBES.

NOTE about the [R]-rated VHS version of "Saturday Night Fever" from Paramount: One reason I bought more than one Paramount tape of the original theatrical version was because the first tape of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER I bought had the music /altered/ during the dance sequence at the end when the Puerto Ricans were dancing in the contest right after Tony and Stephanie. I was fooled! → So I went back and bought the *oldest* Paramount VHS release of "Saturday Night Fever" I could find and was satiated by having the 'proper' music playing. Paramount released the [R]-rated version of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER four different times as best as I can tell, but I only found one Paramount issue for the [PG]-rated 'cut'. Have a cig → 🚬 .
something similar happened with LOVE AT FIRST BITE, because of a copyright claim, FOR YEARS the DISCO DANCE scene between the leads played a song other than I LOVE THE NIGHT LIFE (by ALICIA BRIDGES) and it just WRECKED THE SCENE!

(The HOLLYWOOD FOREIGN PRESS actually got SNOOP DOGG to agree to announce the nominees on TV, I guess FAYE and WARREN were booked)

Not even "The Toys/Movies That Made Us"? "Cells at Work"? The two dubbed Doraemon movies? "Beat Bugs", for pity's sake?? 😮
YOU’RE RIGHT!
I forgot completely that I did watch “the toys that made us”: the he-man, the Barbie and the Star Wars action figure episodes, and I am currently watching the Lego episode.
thanks, I had forgotten this one!
PS – I still say 99.999% of what’s on Netflix is utter dreck

Oooh, the omicron wave. The excuse du jour
But, whatever reason they state is just fine with me- omicron wave, waxy yellow buildup, snakes on a plane, whatever. Just as long as it's cancelled.
I think I speak for ALL OF AMERICA when I say I would 100% watch every second of THE SNAKES ON A PLANE GRAMMY AWARDS.
Probably wouldn't be a very long show though....

but maybe they'll ask GLENN CLOSE to do an encore of her DA BUTT routine
-
i think the ratings on this years OSCARS are going to be MAKE OR BREAK in re: THE FUTURE OF AWARDS SHOWS.
I'm sure they'll probably nominate a bunch of esoteric films and unknown actors and have a four-hour ceremony without using any footage during the ceremony again.

now this: (GRAMMYS postponed indefinitely)

From all I have heard, keep away from it, unless you want to see more of Meryl Streep than you ever desired to see.
To put it bluntly, Netflix originals absolutely stink. I can only think of two I endorsed completely, plus I admired the performances in a third. But most of them are just plain dreadful in every respect. And unmemorable to boot.
I CARE A LOT (2020) WITH rosamund pike AND dianne weist was technically not bad, but it was SO UNPLEASANT I checked out....
SPOILER
Right at the end and before her character gets her well-deserved comeuppance which i only found out about later on

We're now living in a society that celebrates Mars Attacks! as a great satire. (as referenced in some reviews of a truly ghastly looking "satire' called Don't Look Up which unfortunately looks like it will be up for Best Picture)

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.
i haven't seen that, even though i have free access to NETFLIX.
I don't think I have ever been able to finish watching a NETFLIX ORIGINAL though, documentary, tv show or movie.
