If TCM has a notion at some time of doing another series of films set mostly -or- completely in NYC and its surrounding areas, well, here are more movies. Can anyone think of some titles I missed? It's hard to remember all of the New York City-based films released from 1970-79! But, first, here are some 'movies around the edges' released in 1968 and '69 and 1980-82. (I wish I knew how to do an emoji of an apple!) Coogan's Bluff (1968) Detective, The (1968) Rosemary's Baby (1968) Midnight Cowboy (1969) ------------------------------- Lovers and Other Strangers (1970) Where's Poppa? (1970) Bananas (1971) Desperate Characters (1971) French Connection, The (1971) [I know TCM has aired this several times before, but I figured I HAD to list it anyway!] Godfather, The (1972) Hot Rock, The (1972) Possession of Joel Delaney, The (1972) Badge 373 (1973) Blade (1973) Connection, The (1973-Tvm) High Rise (1973) Serpico (1973) Death Wish (1974) Law and Disorder (1974) Apple Pie (1976) An indie movie with no plot -- but you could DIG IT! Deadly Hero (1976) Marathon Man (1976) Contract on Cherry Street (1977-Tvm) Saturday Night Fever (1977) New York, New York (1977) Bloodbrothers (1978) Breaking Up (1978-Tvm) Eyes of Laura Mars, The (1978) Slow Dancing in the Big City (1978) Nocturna (1978) Most of it takes place in NYC. ------------------------------- Windows (1980) Fame (1980) Cruising (1980) First Deadly Sin, The (1980) Night of the Juggler (1980) Fort Apache, The Bronx (1981) Nighthawks (1981) (Filmed in 1979) Wolfen (1981) Stranger Is Watching, A (1982) Smithereens (1982) --------------------------------- Alreet then: Can y'all think of any more?

I hereby bless Father Swithin as a member in good standing of the Catholic Church. Thou shalt be blest with Holy Water on the morrow! JOHN CANDY Triple-Feature: PLANES, TRAINS and AUTOMOBILES (1987) UNCLE BUCK (1989) WHO'S HARRY CRUMB? (1989)

There is another actress who crossed my mind. A British actress named JANET MUNRO (1934-72). She was in 3 Disney films -- I remember her specifically from 1959's "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" -- along with several other movies. I looked at her filmography on the IMDb and I reckon TCM would need all her films to fill up a day of programming. But it's a thought.

Listening to the 1970 song LOVE GROWS WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES by the studio band known as "Edison Lighthouse". They were not a real-life band that toured around the UK. I like to listen to this song several times in a row. One listen at a time is just not enough!

HALE, Barbara

RED SKELTON in the 1946 movie "The Show-Off" as 'Aubrey Piper'. Apparently based on a play according to Leonard Maltin. No matter . . . Piper doesn't listen to anyone and makes a financial mess of things before the obligatory 'happy ending' and is a monumentally irritating character. This film is 'Must-Miss Viewing'.

I reckon I have about 12 of John Wayne's "B"-Westerns, o Pilgrims Of The TCM Stage Line! And ain't none of 'em colorized and dubbed! Yuck! RANGE FEUD, anyone?

FMC is short for 'FoMoCo' (Ford Motor Company) !! Just kidding. I get the 'Fox Movie Channel' and they have some decent older movies on their air along with a requisite amount of newer movies on their program schedule. A mixed bag of movies, to be sure.

FURRREST GLUMP (2037) "Mah Daddy sed (sic) . . . LAHF IS LAHK A BUCKET OF DEER TICKS AND PIG PARTS. You never know if yer gonna come down with LAHM diz-eeze or a Hog Arse!" Let's say I'm not a big fan of Florist Glomp . . . ------------------------------- AIRPLANE II (1982) Also had quite a creditable cast -- just not the volume of laughs as the first "Airplane!". But it still had its moments. William Shatner was funny as 'Buck Murdock'. "No tower? Why the hell wasn't I notified about these things!"

Alreet then . . . listening to a 1969 single from VANITY FARE (they had a hit with "Hitchin' A Ride") called EARLY IN THE MORNING. It's eminently listenable!

@TomJH: I wish you luck in your hunt to dig out your disc of MURDER AT THE VANITIES (1934). It may not be as outrageous as "Wonder Bar", but it's still got the whole Pre-Code 'vibe' going on. Check out those skimpy costumes the ladies are wearing + the weird SWEET MARIJUANA song. Jack Oakie is up to his neck is chorus girls, backstage mayhem and ornery detective Victor McLaglen. Carl Brisson and Kitty Carlisle also star. Worth at least 1 viewing.

THE EVIL (1978) Richard Crenna opens a door in the basement floor that need not have been opened. Yikes. Next: A movie you were liking and enjoying . . . until the ending -- which was botched! Ugh! Left a sour taste! -
@TomJH: Have you ever seen the 1934 pre-Code release MURDER AT THE VANITIES? You might like it if you've not seen it. Last night I watched a movie I'd not seen before: BADGE 373 (1973). I recently bought a 1986 Paramount VHS release and set about to watching. Kind of a peculiar sort of movie; the film is much better seen than described. I'd give it an 'Average' -or- 2 stars out of 4. The movie was filmed entirely in and around NYC according to the end credits.

I'd rather watch DUCK DODGERS IN THE 24th½ CENTURY. It's much shorter. -

I'm a little surprised you'd not heard of MARI BLANCHARD, james and thy jazzy gee-tar. I remembered her from when I was a wee lad watching ABBOTT AND COSTELLO GO TO MARS (1953). I reckon she's been seen on TCM sparingly in the past in "McLINTOCK!" and "TWICE-TOLD TALES". She will be seen very soon on TCM -- albeit very early in the morning -- in RAILS INTO LARAMIE (1954).
