That came later! First, they both took a drivers test using a car with a manual transmission. Bad Move! They flunked. Both of them left their foot on the clutch.

I saw this movie once called DROP-OFF and it was about these 2 leper acrobats who fell in to a deep love and just loved each other to pieces . . .
I reckon you could say their love cost them an arm and a leg.

Which version of THE OUTSIDERS, jin? There's at least 2 versions of it. (Maybe three by now . . . ).
Same with BLADE RUNNER. I've never seen "Blade Runner", but I have noted from the IMDb and Wikipedia there's 7 different versions extant. Which one do you prefer?

I saw that yesterday about JOHN LAFIA. I'd seen his movie MAN'S BEST FRIEND several times. Said he hung himself at age 63. Sad.

Were any of the DVD releases of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS the original happier theatrical ending? (I would assume all the VHS releases were the theatrical version).

LISTENING TO ONE OF, IN MY OPINION, THE GREAT COMBINATION SOUL/FUNK songs of all time. From 1973. The Jackson Sisters. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES on Prophesy Records. Arrangement by Gene Page.
If you fancy a listen check out the version on YouTube that runs 4 mins 50 secs.
This song is POTENT!

Orson makin' movies because, hey, he needs a paycheck like every other actor!
NECROMANCY (1972) A Bert I. Gordon low-budget flick. Orson plays 'Cato' who wants his deceased son resurrected.
BUTTERFLY (1982) Welles plays a Judge. This movie stars Pia Zadora.

I've gotta mention one completely dreadful movie from the 'Speedos' category yesterday: BOARDINGHOUSE (1982). The male lead oftentimes wanders about the house and his bedroom in a white Speedo. He also gets to sleep with a lot of chicks. This is an early, shot-on-video movie. And it's as bad as ones shot on video in the late '80s. → If someone reading this is the type of person who enjoys watching amateurish garbage then this a movie for you! Enjoy!

I can't think of any movies filmed in VistaVision offhand in regards to today's topic. Sorry!

No. I've never been mistaken for anyone famous in appearance or voice.
I would say, however, that when my Mom married my stepdad in 1986 his dad looked so much like Karl Malden he'd have people occasionally ask him for his autograph thinking that's who he was.

Well, when I saw that I was ♦foaming mad♦, too.
I fed small children to the Demon Tree in my backyard.
I punted some annoying ankle-biters down the block.
I played Russian Roulette with a fully-loaded pea shooter and wrecked everybody's weekend.
It was horrible!
Anyway, CHEERS everyone!

@TikiSoo: I remember a 'live' later-career appearance for Sterling Holloway; he played an Everglades moonshiner in the 1977 movie THUNDER AND LIGHTNING starring David Carradine, Kate Jackson and Roger C. Carmel.

I plucked out the Fotomat VHS of "War of the Worlds" from the banana box in which it reposes yesterday. I intend to give it another watch. The last time I watched "War of the Worlds" was on this tape. I was thankful it didn't have the 'rolling picture' problem.
Finding any extant FOTOMAT tapes can be a real chore. I haven't added one to my stash in years, but here are some titles I bought /or/ traded for in years past on FOTOMAT:
BLACK SUNDAY (1977) 2T set (2)
KING KONG (1976) 2T set (2)
MARATHON MAN (1976) 2T set
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (1974) 2T set
LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR (1977) 2T set
I saw a 2T set in ßeta once for "Nashville" on eBay, but I didn't get it. I should have. It sticks in my mind about that one. It was cheap.
♣ Here are more FOTOMATs I snagged over the years -- these releases are on one tape. ♣
GREASE (1978) [This one plays without the rolling picture issue].

WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953)
SUNBURN (1979)
AMERICAN HOT WAX (1978) (3)
FRATERNITY ROW (1977)
HURRICANE (1979)
DEATH WISH (1974) (I remember where I got this one: Norman Scherer at Video Oyster in NYC. He's still around, I do believe, involved in a business called 'KIDSNYC').
PRETTY BABY (1978)
CHARLOTTE'S WEB (1973-Animated)
THEATRE OF DEATH (1966)
PSYCHIC, The (1977-Italian) w/Jennifer O'Neill
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1978)
XANADU (1980)
SOMEWHERE IN TIME (1980)
APOLLO 11: The Eagle Has Landed (Documentary drama)
ROCK 'N' ROLL SHOW: Volume 1 [I don't know if there was a 'Vol. 2' or a 'Volume 3'].
and one Fotomat release I've got no idea why I acquired . . . it contains 3 stories, one of which is THE PEASANT'S PEA PATCH.
Considering FOTOMAT offered 160+ titles I wish I'd have found more. Like a tape of "Saturday Night Fever", for one. Or "Hustle".

I'll give it a try, hamradio. Cheers.

I figure I'll be lucky to get more than a few responses simply because these tapes are so old . . . but has anyone else out there seen any old FOTOMAT VHS and/or ßeta releases? For about 3 years -- from 1979-82 -- FOTOMAT got in to the 'movie rental' business to go with their photography development. I bet most of you remember those kiosks with the distinctive rooflines sitting square in the middle of various shopping plazas 'back in the day'. But do you remember their video rental service?
I saved some FOTOMAT advertisements in regards to their video rental enterprise and they offered up a lot of titles. One advert states 160 titles were available for rental and lists some of them. FOTOMAT even produced a 'Drive-Thru Movie Guide' in 1979. I wish I'd have thought to look for one of those years ago!
I find I have '0 MB' with which to load images otherwise I'd load up all 5 of the FOTOMAT adverts. One of them says "Rent John Travolta" as the heading. It's an ad to promote GREASE.
To date, I've rounded up 27 FOTOMAT releases. 22 are different titles; the other five are multiples. All are VHS. I could've acquired a few FOTOMAT ßeta releases and I probably should have, but I didn't . . .
I did get hold of GREASE on Fotomat. It plays well. That said, the copyguard these tapes were infused with sometimes screwed up the picture and you'd need to adjust the vertical hold on your television sets. Of course, now there are no more manual 'Vertical Hold' knobs on modern televisions so one must ♦hope♦ that darn copyguard wasn't laid over too thick or you'll never be able to watch the tape. Sigh. I've got a few like that.
Anyone else got a FOTOMAT tape or two from the misty past?
If so, what titles?
-
I've never heard that story either in '73, but I don't take it as 'fact' that it's true. Spence, do you have a source for this? I'd like to read about it.
I thought there was an incident backstage at the 1975 Academy Awards where Wayne was seriously angered about the anti-Vietnam film HEARTS AND MINDS winning as 'Best Documentary', but I don't recall reading anything about the incident you are describing from 1973.

ONE-WAY PASSAGE (1932)
JEWEL ROBBERY (1932)
This is my idea of a great double-feature! Kay Francis and William Powell do short 'n' sweet movies.

I just gotta tell this one. There was this leper hockey game goin' on but the referees had to call it early. Seems there was a face-off in the corner . . .
