  1. WOW! That's quite a statement! What is it about the film that you liked so much? I mean, I know it can be hard to put into words how some movies just click with you, but try if you want to. I liked the movie a lot. Fincher is my favorite working director after Scorsese and the Coens. And I like Eisenberg, and felt he was born for that role. I also liked the ambiguous morality of it all. Some view he and his cohorts as revolutionary business geniuses, heroes to be revered and emulated. Others view him as the nadir of human-as-social-being, a borderline sociopathic narcissist whose only goal is the domination, mentally and financially, of everyone he meets. When I watched the movie, part of me cringed at the idea that future tech entrepreneurs may view this film not as a cautionary tale but as a primer on ethical behavior, the way the financial sector started viewing Gordon Gekko in WALL STREET.
  2. SansFin, I haven't seen those two. I've heard of NUDE NUNS WITH GUNS, but not HARVEY PUTTER. TopBilled, I haven't seen MADE IN DAGENHAM, BURLESQUE, IN A BETTER WORLD, NORWEGIAN WOOD, or THE TEMPEST. Swithin, I've heard CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS was fantastic in 3D. It almost made me want to watch a movie in that format. Almost. I have that "glasses on glasses" problem. LiamCasey, I haven't seen RAMONA AND BEEZUS or SHREK FOREVER AFTER, but I know what they are. As for 3-D in adult films, I believe that's been used for decades. Adult films tend to have budget issues, though, so it's rarely, or effectively employed. That is, to the best of my knowledge. If I'm not going to wear extra glasses to watch a regular movie, I'm not going to for porn, either. It's worth noting that an anticipated/dreaded film that saw release last year was the latest from Gaspar Noe, the provocateur director of IRREVERSIBLE, I STAND ALONE, and ENTER THE VOID. It was entitled LOVE, was shot in 3-D, and supposedly features long, unsimulated sex scenes. It got the blandest reception in his career.
  3. SansFin, The White Ribbon won the Palm d'Or at Cannes, Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes, and was nominated for 2 Oscars. So it's not exactly obscure.
