We're in trouble now JackBurley. I just read GarboManiac's post in the Pointless thread. I'm hiding under the desk. regards

And now a word from our sponsor...... I can visualise Robert Osborne drinking a can of Pepsi or munching on some Frito's, but what will he do with the Vagisil or Preparation-H ? Regards

Ab supplemental trivia question - In the movie 'Green For Danger' what does the word 'Green' refer to ? Regards

Well done CharlieT (75%) and MrWriteLA (25%). 'Green For Danger' a great movie with Alastair Sim and Trevor Howard. Never shown on TCM as far as I recall. Next. Regards

I didn't catch the whole movie. I had to leave half way through. It looked very interesting (rather than enjoyable), and a bit racy for afternoon viewing. I can see why it caused a stir in 1960 (probably hit too close to home for some of the reviewers - Okay, so I bought some girly magazines, that doesn't make me a murderer). While watching it I was reminded of Hitchcock's 'Frenzy' and 'Haskell Wexler's 'Medium Cool' from 1969. I'll catch it next time. Regards

I'm ashamed to say I never saw the movie 'They Might Be Giants', so I don't know if it was good or bad. I'll have to check it out though, if only to see Joanne Woodward. I have been suffering from erotic nightmares ever since I saw her in her bathing suit in 'Signpost to Murder'. But you don't want to hear about my personal problems. Regards

I'm afraid I must object to all these negative references to our Commander-In-Cheif's IQ level. I know for a fact that he can count to ten. And to twenty if he takes his shoes and socks off. And to twenty-one if he takes his pants off. regards

Dear Ipcress I see by the number of posts you have submitted, that you are a newcomer to the TCM message boards. There is one thing you must learn immediately before you have a nervous breakdown. Without fail, newbies are thrown into confusion over the definition of the word 'Classic' as used on these message boards. This is followed by long frantic posts by the newbie trying to explain to us all the true meaning of the word 'Classic' as they understand it (I did this myself until it finaly sunk in). Forget it ! ! ! ! 'Classic' movies in the context of the TCM message boards simply refers to a time period. i.e. pre 1960's movies. sometimes called the 'Classic age' or 'Golden age'. It has no deeper meaning than that. Get over it, and get used to it. By the way I agree with your post, there have been many excellent movies produced after the so-called 'Classic' period (you and I would call them 'Classics'). Regards

Here's a beauty Cooler than thou. http://www.trotterautographs.com/robertmitchum.jpg Wouldn't it be nice if TCM put a photo gallery (a real one. Large format, high quality) on their site. I'm sure they have access to lots of studio publicity stills, movie posters, etc. I'd also like to thank the anonymous people who do the graphics for TCM. The folks who do the promo's and bumps for TV, and the folks who do the flash and graphics for the web site, they're brilliant. Give them a raise. Regards

Dear ladygodiva Just because you changed wallpapers it doesn't mean that the image has disappeared from your hard-drive. Look in the 'My Pictures' folder, or in the 'My Downloads' folder. If you remember the filename, do a search for it. Regards

How would you re-cast a modern movie with classic actors?
coolrob1955 replied to BallofFire's topic in Your Favorites
I'll get that Connie Willis book at the first opportunity. Thanks for the tip. Can you imagine a future where flesh and blood film actors are superfluous. I don't think this will effect (affect) star actors (do you like you're favorite actor or actress merely for their acting ability, or because they turn you on in ways that can't be reproduced by a computer ?). There's going to be a massive slump in the job market in the movie industry, not merely for actors. No more carpenters, electricians, cinematographers and a thousand other jobs associated with movie making. At least the end credits will be shorter. Regards -

With the increasing sophistication of computer generated graphics, I predict that within the next twenty to fifty years we will see new films featuring deceased classic actors. Cary Grant as James Bond ? certainly, why not ? I read a story by Howard Waldrop (I think), in Analog or Asimov's back in the 80's about this very subject. About a pirate movie production company making movies entirely generated by computers, with Clark Gable, Bette Davis etc. He even mentions the legal complications over image rights (there are some cases in the courts at the moment concerning actors or the estates of actors trying to put a legal lock on the future use of an actors image). If your conception of computer generated images in movies in limited to Disney cartoons or flash-bang special effects in sci-fi movies, then you havn't been paying attention. The next Star Wars movie with Errol Flynn as Obi Wan Kenobi, why not. Regards -
Yes, Ruby Keeler. A bit overrated in my opinion, but she had very nice thighs. I don't think she was in the 'Wizard Of Oz' though. You may be confusing her with Ruby Slippers. Regards
-
On July third TCM has an evening of 'Wizard Of Oz' related movies and documentaries. Good ol' TCM. However, it's a shame that they havn't included the Disney movie 'Return To Oz' from 1985. It's a wonderful (but dark) little film featuring Nicol Williamson, Jean Marsh, and an excellent performance by ten year old Fairuza Balk. I presume that TCM has limited (if any) access to Disney movies. Regards

Forgot to mention the movie - Murder by Death (1976) Regards

Is it - Elsa Lanchester - Bride of Frankenstein (1935) David Niven - Separate Tables (1958) Peter Falk - Castle Keep (1969) Alec Guinness - Oliver Twist (1948) Peter Sellers would probably fit in here somewhere. http://www.moderndrunkardmagazine.com/index.html Regards
