  1. I know I (and I'm sure many others) enjoyed Summer Under the Stars very much as it gave me an inside view of many legends of the screen. Now what I feel would make a good month special since stars and cinematographers have been done, what about the great directors of all-time? Since I am new here, I do not know if this has already been done and if is planned to be done, but I simply feel as though it would be interesting to see mini-specials of different directors to guide viewers an appreciation for the diverse set of directors during the classic era. I'm sure I'll get a bit of heat for suggesting seeing some of the same films over and over, but it is always interesting to know who guided those great stars. (*prepares to be bombarded*)
  2. > Overborad with Goldie Hawn is an ok movie for > Cinemax, HBO, et al....but it's not even a "new" > classic like The Godfather or Goodfellas...just a > "cutie" of the '80s....really it does not belong to > TCM's Library Ugh, I know what you mean, I gave that movie a chance and I regret having done it, as feaito said "Overborad with Goldie Hawn is an ok movie for Cinemax, HBO, et al....but it's not even a "new" classic like The Godfather or Goodfellas...just a "cutie" of the '80s....really it does not belong to TCM's Library" I don't really enjoy seeing a mediocre overplayed story (well, it may not have been overplayed then, but god when I watched it I felt it was so generic and run of the mill ..) even if it is in tune with the 'night's theme'. If that's all they can come up with for a night's theme, I say stick to random assortments of movies or general categories (war, romance, etc)
  3. I turned 16 a few weeks ago (mid-november). I think that here as long as you have an appreciation and respect for the films and the seemingly mystical era surrounding it, age is nothing but an interesting statistic.
  4. Yes, there's no doubt in my mind Osborne is a fantastic host and it's always a pleasure to listen to his introductions. As said before, they're always entertaining and informative, and his environment and appearance always portray a kind warm image to anyone flipping by; that, of course, is definitely a plus for TCM
  5. > I don't remember the chariot racing in > Spartacus...only remember the one from Ben-Hur That's because there was no chariot racing in Spartacus, Ben-Hur, yes, Spartacus, no. Spartacus was about the gladiator fights and Crassus' army surrounding Spartacus'. As for tearjerking films, I have to say while it is recent, the only one I can gather off the top of my mind, and the one that popped into my head when I saw this topic was Forrest Gump. So many heartwrenching moments and such a good score. I'll put up a few of the older titles as I see them (I am a sophomore in high school ya see, but TCM became my prime channel to watch after realizing how much better it was to have constant great movies than pay a bunch for movies I probably wouldn't like at the modern theatre)
