I'm giving tcmfan23 the benefit of the doubt by interpreting his post to mean that like Sirhan, the Manson family was also brainwashed. I read between the lines.

Mine are from my early days of movie going. I lived in a small town so I started going to movies by myself in the early 60's. Love Beach party movies, those Ray Harryhausen films, even though many times I was watching through my fingers cause those monsters scared me, and I didn't miss many Elvis movies. I always had to get a Chilly Willy which were those huge dill pickles for a nickel. I was a weird kid. Lol.

I would love to see William Boyd aka Hopalong Cassidy. He has had a few films shown n TCM BC (before Cassidy) but I'd like to see those as well Encore Westerns used to show some of them 7 or so years ago. That could be a good day, for me at least.

Ben tweeted last night that Robert was fine & he just took a 2 week vacation which is 30 days in TCM time.

These movies are sort of a guilty pleasure for me, but I did crack up when in one scene they were having tea & the close up of Lady Penelope pouring was obviously real hands.

I read it back when the movie was released in 1975, but I don't remember any of that. All I remember is that the character Dreyfus played had an affair with the sheriff's wife & that he gets killed, whereas he doesn't in the film. But like I said, it's been a minute or two since then. I may be wrong--it wouldn't be the first time.

I miss Charles Grodin. What's he up to these days, I wonder?

My best friend's daughter is 31 years old & is very active in the classic film on line community which includes mostly people her age. And as far as I know her interest began with a college film course. She knew I was a big fan so we talk classic film all the time--we actually have really bonded over it.
I went on the last cruise & there were a lot of 20 & 30 years old people there. I remain optimistic.

The Search has been on TCM several times. You must have missed the 8 to 10 times it's aired. Oh, and TCM went on the air in 1994 so it would have been kind of difficult to interview MacMahon.
BTW, there was no need for the vulgar remark regarding her either.

Ooh, how provocative. Aren't you precious?

Hey, I'll admit that there are a couple of men I watch because of their looks rather than talent. But since I've been watching movies since I was a little girl (born 1953 & about to celebrate 59 years on this earth) it's mostly the films I appreciate.
Another admission--I do like to add to my tally of total films watched, so sometimes I'll sit through more than a few stinkers, some of them made BEFORE 1960 since that's the magic cut off point some like to throw around here.
-
I watched because it's one of William's films I hadn't seen although I do seem to remember the poison scene for some reason. It was pretty good--and I was surprised that I actually had a tear in my eye at the end. William, MacMahon & Fox were all very good. Highly recommended.

I have a friend who knows this McKinley guy quite well, and he caused some problems for her. I won't go into details because I think he may be a frequent poster here. Needless to sasy, my friend doesn't have much good to say about him.

I love this movie too.

I fell asleep during a crucial (I'm assuming here) part of the film between the time Cameron Mitchell left the action & Widmark's demise (sorry to all you spoiler haters.) You're right in that I found it difficult to remain engaged. Cooper seemed uninterested & I agree Hayward wasn't exactly alluring. I did think Marlowe was pretty good. Widmark was the MVP.

Okay. I'll accept that's the way you see things. What & when they schedule films is less complicated in my mind--it seems to me that they are just looking for fresh ways to appeal to the varied mixture of fans, nothing more. I don't think it's any deeper than that.

Top Billed--you've posted twice in the last 24 hours about TCM's "business model & political agenda" but I'm at a loss as to your meaning, especially the political agenda. Care to elaborate, just for s & g.

What does "undersatnd" mean? And how is that pronounced? Inquiring minds....

Former pro sports players have been doing it for years, and I think it devalues their autographs in real dollars for the people obtaining the sigs. The players and/or actors don't care because they're getting paid. It's a conundrum--it's hard to blame the autographers for wanting to benefit.
Bottom line is that it's a money making business on both ends, but it seems to destroy the whole excitement & spontainity of getting signatures.

Anyone here familiar with a little film called The Godfather? For that alone Caan is an actor worth honoring, even though it's not included.
I do wish they were showing Rabbit, Run with Caan, Carrie Snodgress & Jack Albertson. It was on TCM Poland last year when I was on vacation but it was late & I couldn't stay awake. Plus they showed commercials (real commercials for yogurt-see how lucky we are). It looked intriguing, even if it's a little sordid.

To the OP: You can complain all you want but for the love of all that's holy, please quit typing "I seen" when you're writing something. It's always "I saw" for past tense, never "I seen". Please drop that habit.

Leo was quite the fixture around here when I first joined the boards in 2003 (had to change my user name in2005 due to an overhaul of the boards.) Once people quit rising to the bait he quit posting for a few years, but has posted the same stuff he did ten years ago, just has a new audience for his silly provocative rants. He'll get bored and go away again. He eats this stuff for breakfast.

OT: Dumbing down: Who's really to blame?

I really don't mind the cute shortcuts like EZ in advertising, but I do think the abbreviations are more prevalent in this age of the internet.
What blows my mind that cursive writing is no longer taught in schools. It seems like I read that only about 20% of the country writes in cursive these days. Another pet peeve--not knowing proper grammar, such as past, present & future tense which I assume should be learned by fifth grade. I don't mean typographical errors either, which I'm prone to make because of typing on a android pad.
I am guilty of sometimes ending a sentence with a preposition. Nobody's perfect.
