Another case I noticed, in the recent Now Playing e-mail the TCM Import film Roma (1972) scheduled for late on June 20th is marked as a premiere - according to the records it has been shown 7 times before on TCM (I can confirm the last showing in 2014).  So I’m not sure where the Now Playing info is coming from.

From someone working a 9-5?

Just to defend the integrity of our source, Persuasion (1995) is listed as being shown on TCM in November, 2013.  I happen to still have a copy of the Now Playing program guide for that month which confirms it.

I have seen other examples in the recent digital Now Playing Guide e-mails with mistaken and/or missing premieres.

But for this message thread it is better to have false positives than to miss premieres that viewers might be interested in, especially for films that are rarely shown, so thanks for pointing it out and creating the nice summary.

    This is the way.

  3. I used to watch The Love Boat in its first run in the 70s and maybe a bit in the early 80s.  That was a memorable show.  Not great writing, but it never pretended to be.  It was all about meeting people and exploring, and we met plenty of stars.

Back a ways, at an undisclosed point in time for the sake of these public message boards, I had cancer myself.  I was scheduled for a life-saving operation.  I stayed there the night before.   I had my laptop and Netflix (in its infancy - using someone else's account) in the hospital.  This was the first time I had ever tried it.  What did I want to see?  Out of the choices, it quickly became clear - I wanted to watch some old episodes of Love Boat to reminisce.  That was very nice to have at the time.  Anyhow these days I am doing well and will be watching some episodes on Pluto TV to remember.

RIP, Captain (as I knew Gavin MacLeod)

  4. Hey Sepia, I sang his songs just fine.  And I'm really more of a keyboardist/percussionist type, but this stuff is totally in my vocal range.  :D

His songs bring back memories from a bygone era.  I have downloaded and will listen to some of the less known ones now to remember.

    RIP

Yes, because there is some kind of Disney rule...some contingency that dictates no new animated movie can be made with any classic Disney animated charactor. So making any new movie depicting any classic Disney charactors must be made with real people.

I call it lazy. Apparently writing any new charactor movie is too hard or too much a gamble for success. Walt Disney thrived on creative challenges, poor man would be spinning in his grave if he saw what happened to his innovative, creative legacy.

Why not animate the excellent pit bull story IT'S A DOG'S LIFE '55:

    ...or 1931's kid film SKIPPY:

    skippyphoto.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=2

Maybe because they don't find real life dramatic enough anymore, it just has to be over-the-top evil. Nice influencer, that DisneyCorp.

You bring up a good point.  Rather than the now traditional "mission creep", perhaps they are cognizant of this (you and I both know damn well they are), and this is them drawing a line and so forth...  Anyway it seems like something a high level evil influencer would do.

How many times have I've seen this "whatever it is"?

It's in "The Last Starfighter" (1984)  command center (sorry no photo)

Hmm most of that looks pretty sturdy, yet the red tube looks fragile, so a mechanical contradiction of sorts.  Lemme guess - a "sight glass" so they can monitor their propulsion systems in real time?  And how about those black and silver discs I see on the backs of those supporting members, harmonic balancers??

Hi IMDB moved these info several years ago to have access you must register (and pay i suppose) at IMDBPRO,i was not very happy about that, now i must go at boxscore mojo to get some info.

Here's what I meant.  This is still on the old site.  If you refresh the window while on the new site, it still seems to default to the old site.  I just didn't see the "box office" entries on the new site as of last night (I haven't looked yet today).

I find it quite unfortunate that they do not offer the option to see the pages in: 'classic' format as many sites do when transitioning to the less-user-friendly formats.

That's already come and gone.  There was a time when I saw a link to "preview the new site" at the top on older browsers, though I don't think that link actually registered on my main Firefox browser, or I don't recall seeing it.  So for a while I mistakenly thought I "was" looking at the new version of their site.

Now that I have seen the new site, my first impression was that the page didn't finish loading correctly.  So I clicked Reload.  That of course defaulted back to the old page.  I did that a few times before I realized what was happening.

  9. Their new format kind of sucks.  Luckily this doesn't affect my public project in any way, since it doesn't use it.  My private database for my own collecting, on the other hand, scrapes it on an as-needed per-movie basis.  And reassociating the different database elements for their new website format is a bear.  I am almost done though.  A few hours last night and a bit more tonight when I get the down time.  I cannot seem to find any display elements on their new site for "budget", "opening weekend revenue", and "gross revenue".  Maybe now they are putting that behind a paywall as well. (??)

One guy stated it up there just fine.

    "Classic is subjective."

"Classic doesn't necessarily only mean old,  but in film can also refer to being groundbreaking, influential,  or much revered.  And the movies he(or she?) mentioned that they wouldn't consider classic do indeed qualify.

But I get the "social awareness"  fatigue.  Especially when it gets to the point of actually(and without statistical proof and it's source) trying to state HOW it made people react, think or feel about what they saw in a movie made(and first seen) 50-90 years ago.   Or too, how WE, all these years later, SHOULD think and feel about it.  Or worse yet, tries to cop to knowing the producer's true motive behind subject matter of a movie made 80 years ago.   And IMHO, the "body image" twixt movie PSA is the most ridiculous thing so far.

    Sepiatone

I'll have to come up with another venn diagram and see where this takes me.  Classic movies, classic movies that are great, classic movies that aren't great, non-classic movies that are great, non-classic movies that aren't great, classic movies that are great that aren't "woke" (and therefore must be wrapped up in viewer warnings), non-classic movies that aren't great yet have a "woke" moment (and are therefore now a hidden gem), etc.  Unintentionally ridiculous.

Themes of the day have been completely removed, replaced with lengthy genre/subgenre listings, leaving me to have to guess.

It just is whatever it is.  :D   Somewhat "downstream" for the masses, if you ask me, and I have my theories on this.  If/when the other comes up, I will post it.

I notice in this new iteration of the schedule, all the themes are missing.  Not sure if the feed has changed or what is going on.

    Hi, thanks for doing that.

This is another data feed, it is used on their new website.  This one appears to be "downstream" from the other - as in less detail.  I make both available just in case.  Sooner or later the other one should be ready and I'll let you know, so you can change the OP link.

Thank you! Thank you! For finally screening this movie! I'm so excited to see it tonight.  I haven't seen it since it's release in 1977. I have suggested it a couple of times..so thank you! Is this the first time on TV?

2nd, as far as I can tell.  First here was July 2016.

There's still a big blank space for primetime June 11.

TCM Underground looks like a Sweeney Todd theme.

The Undertaker and His Pals (Warrene Ott, James Westmoreland) (Gemini Film Distributors, 1972)
Motel Hell (Rory Calhoun, Paul Linke) (United Artists, 1980)

Edit: someone with a twisted sense of humor in the TCM programming department has decided to follow up these movies with a short titled Delicious Dishes.

    Okay for a "drive-in" night.

Hmm how about The Toxic Avenger (1984), Street Trash (1987), and Eat And Run (1987) in an "honor" to Pat Ryan.  And finish it off with the classic  short "One Got Fat".  https://moviecollectoroh.com/pics_to_hotlink_on_TCM/forum-twisted.gif  I jest...

Downloaded Ohio's schedule & started penciling in (to the 16th) what to record for June. Wow! Several of my favorite genres: ghost/afterlife & juvie movies. Some of the birthday tributes are excellent too-esp Dean Martin!

Just in case you thought we weren't looking at your schedule....I did find two blocks of time missing:

    6/11 8PM to 2AM

    6/14 8PM to 6AM

    What's up with that?

I'm considering watching Roger Corman's CREATURE FROM THE HAUNTED SEA '61 because my Mother went to school & knew Antony Carbone, who "stars" in it. Carbone's car dealerships are still going strong in Syracuse.

    "What's up with that?"

How is this anything new?  Just hang in there...   ;)
