  1. That sounds like a bit of fun, at least just to try it out. I go back to the large Beta SP tapes, as well as the standard, and VHS and even have a small stack of CEDs (anyone remember those?)
  2. A lot of people on here just use stand-alone DVD recorders, and honestly I cannot blame them for that decision. It is a lot less automated of a process, but on the other hand there are fewer steps and is much easier to understand.
  3. I am enjoying your the amount of thought you put into your posts. Basically I have gone through much of the same thought processes as you have, and have come out to using large external HDs for now. If I want a backup copy of everything on it, I just buy another HD and then copy and paste on to the other. I need to look in to a protected means of storage, one that would protect the inventory from outside gamma and X-ray radiation. That is something that interests me too.
  4. It is only a matter of getting all the various proper pieces and parts in order. Not a convenient off-the-shelf type of deal though. I never thought I'd have so much crap in my entertainment center. Wall warts and cheap little boxes neatly organized everywhere. Only a few degrees away from being a mess.
  5. That's a mighty TORific avatar you picked up.
  6. I have that movie. That's one of those ones where I was kind of expecting more. When he talks near the end, it comes out sounding something like "booga wooga wooga wooga", and not for that long. Maybe that is the point where their source VHS tape got eaten up.
  7. TOR And The Flying Dutchman (the "good" kind or the "bad" kind?) TOR's Vines Have Tender Grapes TOR's Hitchhiking Guide To The Galaxy Oh TOR, Poor TOR, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad TOR Always Rings Twice TOR Vs. The Robot And The Aztec Mummy TOR Captured The King Of The Leprechauns From TOR to Eternity TOR And The Seven Hoods
  8. LOL I think the last three posts in succession are the funniest thing I have read on here!
  9. Speaking of which, my TCM must-see movie is Just Imagine (1930). It is a Fox Film Corp production, before they merged with Twentieth Century. The title cards say "William Fox presents", or somthing similar. All I have ever seen of it is a poor-quality Youtube video.
  10. Per foot of videotape? Hopefully not the unused space at the end, or the part that accidentally got copied over.
  11. Last time I went to a movie theater, I saw one of the poorly written/poorly produced movies that people on this thread are griping about. It was so bad that after I came home I had to watch two or three TCM movies in a row just to take the edge off.
  12. Okay I'll try to reword it. TCM "may" or "may not" have started keeping an online database with their first transmission on day one. My reasoned guess is "not".
  13. Therein lies the kicker... (I'm one of the guys who reads the fine print)
  14. "So tell me Pressure, What's your angle in this racket?" - Jane Wyman "Oh sweetheart, you got me all wrong. I'm on the level now" - E.G. Robinson "You can't fool me" -paraphrased from Larceny, Inc "Say, you catch a glimpse of that tasty dish that just walked by?" "Oh, you shouldn't ha' said that 'bout Joey's new girl, he's lookin' awfully sore right now" "Gulp" "One of us is right and one of us is wrong, see? And the wrong guy is the dead guy, see?"
  15. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatling_gun I could see Rod and Hot Leg in general reference to rifles or shotguns.
  16. You forgot to reply to the first part of my post. It is not a big movie either, for that matter.
  17. Some day I might. But for now I just wanted to get the story straight. It is something I haven't addressed yet. The actual process of adding entries may have been started after this movie aired, and we all know it is not an "A" movie.
  18. So TCM has confirmed all of this then?
  19. I don't know about "never", that is a big word. Your guess is as good as mine, unless of course if you have a definitive answer for how far back the TCMDb entries go, and as you already know, my efforts only cover a contiguous block of time from Mar 2003 to now.
  20. TORn Curtain (1966) - Just one life is not enough! Gran TORino (2008) Did they really edit him into this one? Watch it and find out! TORtilla Flat (1942) - The camera never lies... TORmented (1960) - The legend is real. So is the terror. TORpedo Run (1958) - Hit the ground running! Waltz of the TOReadors (1962) - Life just took a terrifying turn!
  21. No, it is an attractive young lady. The way I remember it is there is a film school addition that was put in either before or after the opening credits of the original movie. The best part, it had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the story line or characters. A true W T F type of deal.
  22. "You see, crime just doesn't pay" "The big shots aren't little crooks like you. They're politicians." -You And Me (1938)
  23. All I know is if I were doing a schedule, I would put it together so that only one item that needs to be updated, and anything else would reference parts of that. But I did check and their monthly schedule was correct yesterday/last night. So maybe that is the one to look at.
  24. On the UK/France topic, anyone see Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC a few nights ago? This is the version of the show where he is NOT in the US. I was watching it, and two episodes in a row were in other European countries. One in France and one in Spain. Both restaurants were owned and operated by British ex-patriots, and tended to attract the British ex-pat crowd in each respective country, who longed for food from "back home" I suppose. And this was being aired on BBC. The show has a bit of an otherworldly vibe to say the least.
  25. Here's the one I usually go to. http://www.tcm.com/schedule/monthly.html It is down right this minute as I type this, so maybe they are working on it. An alternative to using a DVR connected to a scheduling service might be to check this link. It is sourced by the same company that provides online scheduling for many cable co DVRs. http://www.zap2it.com/tvlistings
