  1. The joys of Vertical Integration. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_integration#Entertainment Yup, some of them (not all) don't know squat about the TCM brand, nor could care less. Now it is all about the fleeting whims of the head(s) of the new parent company. It has been that way for a while now, not that you need me to confirm or that it hasn't been glaringly obvious.
  2. My "new feed" schedule has CC, and is using the exact same data source as their official online schedule is now using. I must admit I am guilty of not perusing their new official schedule website at my leisure. Didn't they manage to put CC somewhere on that? After all, that's the intent of including it in the data source. https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/nightly/sched-new.htm
  3. I'm not here to beat you down or mock you, plenty of others to fulfill that "need" - the dopamine centers of my brain must be situated just a bit differently... Below are two different files I produce every month. Ignore the percentages in the first file, they are irrelevant to the point made here. Look at the first column of numbers, which counts the unique number of movies shown per broadcast year. https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/reports/1)movies-only.htm Also of note - I am including a link to this second file to count unique movies shown which are only of US origin. Look at the differences between that and the first file, which also includes all the foreign movies. https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/reports/2)movies-only_USA-only.htm
  4. No, that's "POOF". I typed "*poof*" That is some movie which used to be on some hosting site, but now is no longer there. "Uh-oh."
  5. In addition, with streaming it is really neat how long you get to... *poof* Oh wait, never mind.
  6. That's because the lower picture is in COLOR! 😁
  7. FWIW, I don't see anything after that, so to adjust your expectations this might just be a one-timer. Will keep posted though.
  8. Just coming out of a 3 day power outage here and I haven't seen it yet... Someone else recorded it and has passed it along. With all the talk about "beach music", hopefully it at least has some good scenes, and they better be good. 😁 I think Big Wednesday (1978) was the last beach movie I saw. A spectacular wind storm came through Sunday and just about cleared the rest of our leaves for us. Power around here goes out if you just sneeze. The stability of the grid is about what might be expected for a remote cottage community, except it's not. Anyhow it is a familiar sight as I drive around during any number of outages to see power company trucks parked and sitting around, just waiting for a part they need to arrive, often from out of state. "Just-In-Time" supply chain management anyone??
  9. I wonder who was the poor owner of the donor chandelier. There must be a story behind that.
  10. Everyone else's loss I'm sure. I was just typing things from memory there.
  11. Yep, that's it! That's Spike Jones or someone from his rag-tag band though, playing a set of concert chimes off-camera. Rymal isn't hitting the right notes, and at times isn't even hitting them. 😁 Part of their gag was discreetly playing along with their comedians, so they could look like they were playing something too. Also of note here is Billy Barty, dressed up as the little chicken. Based on interviews I have seen, his association with Spike Jones was easily the highlight of his career. He was also dressed up as the "mischievous baby" in Gold Diggers of 1933, among other roles. Love the telephone gag too. These guys were crazy. What you see here is a very scaled down version of their show, whatever they could fit into a TV studio. It had been a traveling circus at one point.
  12. I've seen that paddle ball guy make brief cameo appearances on The Spike Jones Show, early 1950's. They had him standing off to the side in-between various acrobatic and musical gags in front. Probably in-demand for only a short time.
  13. Maybe. My "new feed" schedule is updated a few times a day. It receives the same exact information that their current Daily schedule receives, making it accurate and up-to-date. Since it uses the same data source that the official schedule does, its future is also somewhat guaranteed. https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/nightly/sched-new.htm My "old feed" schedule is based on an older "API" data source which seems to have mirrored the data patterns of their older schedules. It produced more future months at a time than it looks like their new schedule apparently will, but none of this is set in stone. It preceded the new official schedule and its future is not certain. https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/nightly/sched.htm
  14. For newer posters, I have put together my own version of the new schedule. It shows as many months into the future as their newer schedule contains. You can see future months now either by going to the official Daily schedule and working your way ahead, or by going to my unofficial schedule and scrolling all the way down (same exact data, more concise to look at). I am going with this page from now on, it gets updated at least a couple times a day, using the same data source they use, to mirror their schedule changes on an ongoing basis: https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/nightly/sched-new.htm
  15. Since I made a web page to display all this stuff, I couldn't help but notice there is a disparity in size among different movies in the field AFI/TCM has internally labeled as the "storyline". While most are limited to about 20 to 30 words and many are limited to about 40 to 100 words, there are some in the upcoming month and a half that far exceed this. Come Next Spring (1956) has 1238 words. Also that one drops out the lead characters in the listing. Rather than list Ann Sheridan, Steve Cochran and Walter Brennan, as IMDB correctly lists, it has Roscoe Ates, Tony Bennett and Walter Brennan. Ball Of Fire (1942) is 920 words long. Gaslight (1944) is 1190 words long. High Society (the Bing Crosby movie) is 1075 words long. Indiscreet (1958) is 1410 words long. Bell Book & Candle is 1033 words long. The Day The Earth Stood Still is 1035 words long. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958) is 1161 words long. Now I don't recall if those were all there when I first made my first version of the "new feed" schedule, but looking at it now, it sticks out. So I added in the "details" HTML tag, which initially only shows an arbitrary 350 characters or about the first 60 words, and then the whole description if you click on it. My preference would be the short one or two sentence description, as I don't want to read the entire plot. With it much longer, it is completely useless to me. I might as well also include a link to IMDB, just so I can see a short 20 or 40 word description. This sort of looks like two different fields thrown together, or in the process of one being changed out for the other. IMDB has two different fields for this. Sometimes the larger field is just a duplicate of the smaller one, or sometimes the larger one is just blank, but there is usually something in the smaller field. They definitely have two different fields to accomplish this though.
  16. I wonder if they've found their guy yet: https://www.warnerbroscareers.com/find-jobs/?177935BR
  17. Meh... Kind of turns it into a gooey mess. But in our happy little world there isn't any such thing as a gooey mess, just over-rated opinion: https://moviecollectoroh.com/tmp/sched-maltin.htm
  18. Now there's a winner... Since it's at 3:00am I thought I'd see some chainsaws and heads rolling. Or maybe the handyman with a power drill. What the hell is this.
  19. You're welcome. It's simple enough for me to post. This is not connected in any way to the "new" website. See my "new feed" schedule for that - I am doing the same thing with that too - as a backup. If you work your way ahead in the new official "Daily" schedule, you will see the same thing as you would if you scroll down on my "new feed" schedule. They are both built from the exact same data. What you see here is produced from a different system of data files which predates the new official schedule. Hence "old feed". At the moment it would appear this is still in use, but to be practical only time will tell.
  20. Correct. To all - thanks but I have zero input on these schedules. Nada. Zilch. I am not filling anything in. Period. When I decide to refresh my web page, all the new changes made since the last refresh will show up. It is really a simple concept. Unlike my database project which requires about an hour and a half of my time once a month for me to update, this schedule project will ultimately run in the background and update itself each day. I'm glad to see the interest.
  21. Whatever they plug into it will show up soon afterwards or maybe later in the day.
  22. You're welcome. It's all there to begin with though, I'm just going the last mile and dumping it to a user-friendly web page. I thought some semblance of normalcy might be good.
  23. This looks like it will probably work. For an early look, open this link and scroll to the bottom. https://www.moviecollectoroh.com/nightly/sched.htm
