This is not a yearly-cumulative "unique" list that gets reset each year (as my other quantitative reports are). This is just a count of movies as they premiered on TCM, across all broadcast years. That is, TCM's first occurrence of each feature-length film (45 min or greater), and the year that it was aired. So hypothetically speaking, if TCM aired Fletch for the first time in 2002, then it would only ever get counted once in 2002, then never again and never before. [edit: I just reworded the description on that report to match this.]
The first few TCM broadcast years are the largest because they burned through most of their premieres during those years (you know, the golden era stuff they are best known for). Then that slows down and remains pretty stable up to now. Lately it has been a lot of Japanese film and other random stuff. But there is still some golden era stuff they can find to fit into that.
1998 and 1999 are going to be off, because I am missing about half of each of those years.
P.S. To contrast, here is a different report showing my most simple count of all movies shown per year (unique by year - or counted only once per year).

Here's a count of premieres, accurate for the most part. No hockey stick graphs. Just raw data.

Since it appears the toolbar stopped working spontaneously, i'd say either they ran a routine update which broke it, or else they were using software that had a "time bomb". I'd give it about a 50/50 chance in this case, as they aren't that big on updates, whereas routine updates continuously break things all over the world. Especially Microsoft updates, from what I read and hear about.

Thanks for the help! I'll have one of each of those.

So, when was the LAST date? (wasn't that the question?
)
OK, so, when was the last time TCM showed PRESSURE POINT, the Poiter/Darin flick from '62?
Sepiatone
I didn't think so, or else I would have answered it differently, wouldn't I.

Just an addendum to my large post above, the post with the "World's Greatest Elvis" competition. The older judge in that video, towards the end of the segment, is none other than Joe Esposito - Elvis's long time friend and road manager! The most perfect judge they could have had. I should have watched that video all the way through before.

I see I am in good company with others here who enjoyed the movie for what it was.

Here's the whole June 1st day.
This came from the monthly schedule via the website.
...
Okay, thanks for that. Mine was from their online monthly schedule too. That day is identical except it seems Angels With Dirty Faces was replaced with These Wilder Years (1956).
4:45 PM Johnny Angel (1946)
6:15 PM These Wilder Years (1956)
8:00 PM Hoosiers (1986)In this case I can confirm this schedule was retrieved in the middle of the month, well after that time slot had aired.
I look at each of these individually, so if you notice other potential issues let me know.
For others who might be wondering what we are talking about here, there is this:
http://moviecollector.us/reports/TCM_SCHEDULES_SUMMARY_alpha.htmAlso I don't keep track of shorts as carefully, they are moved around in the schedule rather frequently. So while shorts do get tracked, it is understood the original schedules (my source) do not attempt to completely track them.

The Jolson Story (1946) -- I think it debuted on TCM in 2006, possibly in honor of the film's 60th anniversary.
I have Nov 2006 for my earliest date.

The last time Angels with Dirty Faces played was June 1st 2010.
What movies surrounded it in your version of the schedule? Was yours the print version?

Nothing Elvis did was as embarrassing as this:

And Frank had some bad moments, too:

Who's that, Bing? That almost looks like a scene from The Black & White Minstrels - a British TV production whose music sounded good to my ears (at least the LPs), but then I saw parts of the TV show and thought it looked a bit silly.
P.S. I'm sure the BBC has burned all the masters by now.

For Classic Movies, combined acting and singing, Bing Crosby.
For most wedding band covers, Frank Sinatra.
For most carryover to stage performers today and overall fun, Elvis!
That reminds me, I haven't seen 3000 Miles To Graceland (2001) in a while.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0233142/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1See what I mean. The wannabees are easily recognizable and never too serious.
Okay, I take that back. This guy IS serious.

What I am remembering, besides hearing an announcer say live on TCM that there was a commentary track just prior to broadcast, was a periodic online conversation with George Feltenstein who was - may still be - in charge of what gets released to DVD/Blu at Warner Brothers. At one time he said there would be the three Showboat films released on HD at some time in the future - the 1929, the 1936, and the 1951 versions as a collection. He also mentioned in 2008 that we would be getting two boxes a year of the Forbidden Hollywood collections back when they were pressed. Then came the 2008 stock market crash, the Great Depression of the 2010's, and the end of WB's great boxed sets of DVDs.
I may be telling most of you something that you already know, but I'll risk that. Have you ever wondered why WB owns the Universal versions of Showboat? The reason is that it was the custom for a long time for a studio to buy up the rights to all previous versions of a film if they decided to produce a remake. That is why there are some odd Universals and Paramounts in the WB catalog. It's the reason that TCM never plays "His Glorious Night" (1929) with John Gilbert. It was bought by Paramount when they remade it as Breath of Scandal. Never heard of that one? Of course you haven't! Paramount owns it, and Paramount and Universal are where classic films enter the abyss never to be heard of again unless it is one of the tent pole classics like Sunset Boulevard.
Yeah, there was someone else in that same thread who basically said the same thing about a Show Boat boxed set. It wasn't promised though, just speculated, or something to that effect. I haven't seen the 1929 version yet. It is said to be missing some sections of the audio.
Another example of film rights purchased that comes to mind is the producers of Airplane! purchasing Zero Hour!, but I understand they also dumped it shortly afterwards - maybe as an in-joke.

What you are remembering is either the 1929 or 1936 version of Showboat had a commentary track. At the time Warner Bros. was still planning to release all three versions in a DVD set, and I imagine this commentary track was part of this. However, the 1936 version was released through the Warner Archive with no commentary track, so I imagine this plan was scrubbed.
Just an update, here is that post I was reminded of, from about a month ago:
https://www.nitrateville.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25934&p=203337#p203455I have no more to offer than that. It turns out this was already marked off as "done" in my DB, so I didn't record this instance.

That reminds me of something - a long while back something I recorded off TCM was proceeded by a short title card, stating that the commentary audio was also been broadcast on the secondary audio channel. Since I didn't know that they were going to do that, I obviously wasn't able to setup the recording to grab that 2nd audio stream (most DVRs only record a single audio stream, regardless of how many a broadcast might include. AFAIK, that's the only time I've noted TCM do this & I wish that they'd try it again.
I'm headed out this minute, but briefly I made a short memo to self based on a recent post here (or maybe elsewhere):
Check for Showboat (1936) on most recent archives HDD. It was mentioned that TCM played a version of it recently with a secondary audio track with commentary.
So that might have been inadvertent on the main audio track for them, or for that one poster it may have been on his end. I still need to verify what I actually recorded (just the usual Directv HD TCM feed), so I can mark that movie off or not.

Well I have been working on saving the recently aired jungle movies, and I do believe I have finally seen the aforementioned commercial(s). That is a bit focused around one individual, isn't it. Just a random case, I suppose we are to conclude. Whatever. Just don't change the movie format on us. Really.

Well I would have watched this a third time since it recetly aired, but my work on the recently aired jungle movies kind of got in the way.

Well that makes two times I viewed it since it just aired. Definitely one I like, I would nominate this one for that thread about movies that are good for multiple viewings. Time for me to put it away for a while.

Looks like you are right TB. I didn't check imdb before I responded. I'll never forget her first credited role in the short WB piece "Frontier Days" (1945). It is completely ridiculous. First there are the fictional villains of the piece - "The Stacy Gang" - who apparently are almost single handedly responsible for the slaughter of the buffalo and imprisoned for it. In fact, nobody went to jail for killing buffalo. For a long time, the country's highest generals, politicians, even then President Ulysses S. Grant saw the destruction of buffalo as solution to the country's "Indian Problem." Then there is the joining of the pieces of the Transcontinental railroad that in this piece occurs in Kansas not Utah. Then there is a town growing up around the place where the sections were joined called - Civilization, Kansas??? There is no such place, and why would a town grow up around where a spike was driven and for no other reason? But then those Stacys are loose again, killing the sheriffs of Civilization, and the grown daughter of one, Dorothy Malone as Martha Mercer, decides she will be the law and avenge dad's murder. Hold it? She just thinks she can inherit the office? And on it goes. I'm sure Ms. Malone would not want to be remembered for it anyways. There was one WB film prior to that where she was credited entitled "Too Young To Know" (1945). She is so far down the bill you probably wouldn't even know she was in the film. But the odd thing? This is another one of those "lost due to rights issues" films. From imdb this film was shown in April 1994 on TCM, but legal issues have kept it hidden from view ever since.
Too late to make a long story short, just looking through her credits, I think Ms. Malone would probably want to be remembered more for her work at Universal than for anything she did at WB. And you were in film school at one time??? Your picture shows you as a pretty young guy and I know your actual occupation from another board. Where did you find the time to do both? You must be an energetic guy.
Hah! Not in my DB because that is one of the remaining months I haven't received yet.

This one kind of hits close to home for me. I must admit I had seen this one a couple times already, it was good to see it again. Like an old friend. Hey, there was someone who looked a bit like Marge Champion too.

Wow, even if the film this person is looking for isn't Fanny, this was a very impressive guess (especially based on the very limited info provided).
I thought that at least it might be worth a shot.
