Best synergy--"Young and Innocent". The director, cast, and crew all get Oscars. Darn near flawless thriller. -
"Young and Innocent" (aka "The Girl Was Young") (1937)--Was the first time I'd watched a good quality video of this film--on YT--Everything works in this thriller, down to the English atmosphere and police acting more as buffoons than police. Nova Pilbeam gives one of the best performances in a Hitchcock film, and her co-stars nearly match her. Hitchcock is amused by his characters, not angered by them or obsessed by them. Fine camerawork by Bernard Knowles. Excellent use of music by Louis Levy. 9.4/10 stars.

limey--according to my memory (and Wikipedia) it was theatrically released as "Alice, Sweet Alice" in 1978, then again in 1981 as "Holy Terror" to capitalize on Brooke Shields' popularity.

"Secret Ceremony" (1969).

cigarjoe--All films but "Strange Cargo" (1940) have played; SC Got The Code and The Legion of Decency all Very Unhappy. It is a religious parable mixed in with an escape from an Devil's Island prison colony--Joan Crawford and Clark Gable star. Is Really worth seeing at least once; can watch as just an adventure film or figure out the religious references also. Film leaves it up to the viewer whether they want to see religious references or not. JMO.
