  1. I apologize if this has already been mentioned (I've had some trouble keeping up with all the boards!) but I didn't really view Rita Hayworth here as a traditional femme fatale. I haven't seen Gilda yet but her performance doesn't strike me as one from a woman with confidence. She seems desperate and eager for protection... although I'm interested to see if that leads into her becoming a femme fatale later on. Question though - I thought about how this scene compares with Lauren Bacall's song in To Have and Have Not. And while that has many of the same features of a noir, I'm not 100% sure
