  1. The opening scene conveys a sense of foreboding, starting slowly with the children playing, the women washing, the clock striking, bells ringing. All of these things contribute to the feeling of dread. As the clock strikes, the woman has a look of anticipation on her face as she awaits the arrival of her child. As the child exits the school building she avoids being struck by the car only to encounter the shadowy figure of a man who has nothing but harm in mind. The cinematography is perfect in this opening scene providing the appropriate atmosphere for the rest of the film.
