  1. Coal Miner's Daughter (1980) Great Balls of Fire (1989) Ray (2004) Walk the Line (2005) Spotlight (2015) The Old Man and the Gun (2018)
  2. Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991). Madonna visits her mother's grave. Was Madonna's name always part of the film title?
  3. The Sniper (1952) In Bruges (2008)
  4. Pickup on South Street, starring Richard Widmark Cornered, starring Dick Powell, who has a PTSD moment in the Argentine subway
  5. Serenity (2019), starring Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey I think parts of The Manchurian Candidate qualify.
  6. And now for something completely different: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1974) and Monty Python's Spamalot (2004).
  7. I remember this episode. For some reason, I still find it hard to believe that Janice Rule also appeared in Bell, Book, and Candle with Kim Novak and James Stewart.
  8. P. of T.: I don't recall ever watching Route 66 on television when it was first broadcast. But I saw the entire series when it was re-broadcast in recent years -- I think it was WMPX. I can't find the station any more.
  9. So people participating on this thread are watching or rewatching Route 66 now? (Great idea, by the way.)
  10. Can you post the URL for this site? I would be interested in seeing the comparisons.
  11. Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep the Chromecast and other suggestions in mind. Now I promise to leave this thread to Noir Alley fans everywhere!
  12. I think I have seen all the episodes of Route 66, and I do remember Ed Asner. Wikipedia has some interesting information compiled about the show. The Guest Stars section at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Route_66_(TV_series) gives many of the names of the guest stars.
  13. Larger Than Life (1996): Lying about an inheritance!
  14. I don't have wireless, so Chromecast is out for me. But watching on my laptop does just fine.
  15. The Endless Summer (1966) National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) A Room with a View (1985) (Finally made more than 1,000 posts!)
  16. I agree! But sometimes "convenience" and/or "cheap" (as in "free"!) win out. The Internet Archive is a good resource to consider for both reasons.
  17. You can see 711 Ocean Drive for free at the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/711OceanDrive50
  18. The Family (2013), starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer
  19. Blonde Ice (1948) has exactly two female cast members, even though the title and the star is a female. It's all about her ruthless treatment of men, who get to overshadow her. Almost literally. The last scene includes all the men standing over (and looking down on) one female.
  20. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) The Paper Chase (1973) Mister Holland's Opus (1995) Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999)
  21. Would these films qualify? Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972) True Grit (1969) (2010)
  22. Almost forgot! Breaker Morant (1980) Gallipoli (1981)
  23. Lantana (2001): Great film starring Anthony LaPaglia Television series Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: Lots of fun, by the way. Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears: yet-to-be-released film that I am looking forward to seeing!
