I can't think of one right now, but I do think overall The Strawberry Blond was better, though I love Coop. :-)

Hello.
If I remember, she played Elizabeth Taylor's mother in Butterfield 8 . I've always enjoyed her performances in films.
Wasn't she also in a film with Rita Hayworth, as the mother of Rita's lover who gives testimony against her son who's charged with Rita's husband's murder? I have to go look that one up.

3-2-1! lol That was quick! Yep, Miss Parker it is. :-)

Ya' know, you guys are just so great! I am always so impressed. Thank you very much. :-)
I am not into foreign films but that one just grabbed me and wouldn't let me go. The thread on Latinos in movies made me think of this one. Well, all but the title. ;-)

I don't blame you, sometimes it's safer to lurk than post around here. lol
Nope, not Lynn Bari, so it's clue time.
This woman is NOT a shadow of her former self. ;-)

There was a movie about a little boy who lives in a monastery, I believe in Mexico. He climbs stairs to an upper room and talks to a statue of Jesus that comes to life. I don't remember if it was subtitled or not. I hope that's enough info to trigger your memory.

I think it's pretty nice these Little People lived, and are living as long as they have to get the glory, respect and appreciation they should have gotten way back when for a job well done. Forever so many of them will live on and on in our hearts. Especially the Town Crier, Mayor, Sleepy Head and the Lollipop Kids. Oh, and the Ballerinas. lol
Thanks for the link to here and these pics. :-)

I have been edited by the moderators and don't see what the big deal is. Shouldn't we just suck it up? I'm a guest here, this is not my nor our message board, it's TCM's message board and, as such, who am *I* to complain if *they* feel *my* behavior breaks *their* rules?
Correct me if I'm wrong, this is not a democracy, this a privately owned message board and the moderators are trained professionals hired by a corporation, TCM, to do just what they do, moderate and attempt to maintain a reasonable sense of civility without entirely squashing our right to some freedom of speech. I believe, they have every right to silence us, they are the moderators, reps of the company here to enforce their company's message board code of conduct. If they feel we have committed an infraction, so be it. Why make their job harder by questioning their motives and their abilities?
You may say I'm kissing up to the moderators, although I have no idea why I would or where that would get me, and that is your opinion, you are entitled to it, just as I am to mine and that's exactly what this is.
*No one* on this message board should be given *preferential treatment* for any reason. If they are, well, then it's *elitist*.

Hello and welcome on board. I'm glad you're having a good time here, and I'm astounded and honored you went all the way through to the beginning. :-)
There really are amazing people on this thread and they keep me on my toes! I can't fool them for one minute. I had to cheat to do that. lol
Anyway, nope, not Miss O'Hara but feel free to guess again, and if you have a pic you'd like to post and try to stump us, feel free to jump in. . :-)

I very rarely see Cassanova Brown . I loved him in that with Teresa Wright. Their chemistry is right on the money, just as it was in Pride of the Yankees the prior year. That is one of my favorite movies among the many I have. :-)

I am not sports orientated, but...
The bottom line is, had we ignored the OP they would not have walked off the field laughing after successfully making a touchdown by triggering folks' emotions.
The OP gave, what to some is an offensive opinion, aimed at no one here in particular or directly, yet he/she took a direct hit, either of snarky humor or personal insult, thus we went on the defense and kept the ball in motion. We can only blame ourselves if the ball is still in play, not the poster or the moderator.
And I only came back in because you addressed me and I didn't want to be rude. :-)

Hi, Midge! Judging by your number of posts you're new here so welcome, but nope, not Barbara Hale. :-)
-
But you see, we did exactly what the OP wanted us to do, if that was their real intent, which I don't know because I don't know them so I can't really say, and we fanned the flame. lol
I wasn't going to come in here, but I went and read that info on Wiki and it confirmed what I thought about the moderator.
It's human nature to ban together against a perceived enemy, but that's not for me. This is only the second message board I've ever been on and I got off on the wrong foot on this board and made enemies and that was not my intent, so it's better for me to not open my mouth too often. lol I just felt bad seeing the moderator take some heat for another's comments and doing their job.
Okay, I'm outta here now. :-)

I didn't think you meant it that way, I didn't either. lol I just wanted to clarify I wasn't. Got that? lol

I wasn't questioning any one's word on their ethnicity, I was just surprised. I had no idea. lol

Garbo did okay with her accent, as did Gilbert Roland, Joseph Schildkraut and many others, so..
Of course 'we the people' were to blame, too, but the studios were so powerful they could have played a major part in turning it all around long ago. They had a hand in perpetuating the bigotry and the myths of certain ethnic groups.
It wasn't until I was an adult that the race, religion or creed of any actor crossed my mind. To me they were images on a screen and the characters they portrayed, as long as they were white. If they wore some other mask, it just didn't feel right and made their performance less enjoyable to me.

I know, I don't like being a tattletale, either, so I just ignore that person in the future if their post offends me in some manner. I could care less if someone is blowing off steam, just trying to make trouble or be the center of attention; my motto is, give someone enough room and they'll hang themselves. If no one responded to the OP of this thread it would be buried all ready. We gave life to this monster, not the OP. lol
All I'm saying is I think I know where the moderator is coming from, but if you and others feel the guidelines need to be updated to specify what is considered interferences in the enjoyment of the site, maybe they'll take that into consideration.

I find it an insult to my intelligence in most cases. Warner Oland playing Charlie Chan, along with Brando, Hepburn and many others who played Asian was bizarre to me. From my earliest recollections as a movie lover, I never understood it, though my mother tried to explain.
Spencer Tracey playing Portuguese I could live with, but Charleton Heston as a Mexican was another story. If nothing else, most whites playing ethnic roles gave me a good laugh at just how ridiculous they and the studios looked. The obvious bigotry in Hollywood is right there on the screen for all to see, and is often a sorry reminder of the way it was, but it's also a reminder of just how far we've come as a society.

Did I misunderstand? Are you saying Margaret O'Brien and Yvette Mimieux are Latinos? :-)

I think I understand where the Admin is coming from. This is from Wiki...
*Generally, moderators encourage members to also use the private message system if they wish to report behavior. Moderators will generally frown upon attempts of moderation by non-moderators, especially when the would-be moderators do not even issue a report. Messages from non-moderators acting as moderators generally declare a post as against the rules, or predict punishment. While not harmful, statements which attempt to enforce the rules are discouraged.*
I think the Admin is just reinforcing that where free speech is important, it's not up to us members to dictate who and what is accectable. That's their job.
If we recognize someone as a rebel rouser, why not ignore them, not address the issue and report them through the proper channels?

He's was super as Diamond Jim Brady in the 1935 movie by the same name. And he was also good in Come and Get It, You Can't Take it with You, Lillian Russell and The Hucksters .
