Also, I doubt if the Hutton films would sell that well unless the company did plenty of special marketing. I think this petition needs to be signed by hundreds of people before it is sent to Universal. I am still waiting for Vol 2 of the Deanna Durbin set. And I can't believe Paramount has not released LET'S DANCE (I own the laserdisc) in which Hutton co-starred with Astaire. Although that studio is hopeless by releasing many of their titles over and over again. Yeah, most of these kinds of things are doubtful at best, but if I can help, why not? lol We can only hope someday the studios through the magic of the internet will provide, for a nominal fee, download access to every movie ever made. That doesn't sound so far fetched to me. lol

The First Film That Comes to Mind...

It's taken me two days so far and I'm only half way through. What I've come to realize, as beautiful as these women are, without make-up and special lighting and the right camera angle, many are not as they seem and have their flaws like the rest of us. That's the magic. I wonder if the right make-up artist, lighting and camera angle could do that for me? Ha!

I absolutely love the fashions of yesteryear. My favorite clothes for both men and women are from the 20s and 30s, but I have no problem with the 40s and 50s, or the Victorian age for that matter. I have a few vintage pieces from each era I have no shame wearing today, and there isn't anything I find sexier than a man in a fedora and long overcoat. If you had to pick a style and era to dress yourself in, what would that be? Also, kids clothes are as important, and anything for a child fashioned in the 20s through the 50s is up my alley. :-) AND! If you could choose one outfit for yourself from any movie or any star, who or what would it be?

I LOVE that candid of Gable! Be still my girlish heart! lol He's my fave, but there are a few more. Got any of John Garfield in sun glasses or jeans? lol

Among many others mentioned here, and to avoid making too long a list of my Irish faves, I'd like to see the 1950 version of The Daughter of Rosie O' Grady and the Plough and the Stars directed by John Ford. -
> {quote:title=edonline wrote:}{quote} > Parts two and three of the pilot are also available on youtube or by going to the link on the article post. For some reason, when I posted the article, the other youtube links didn't show. It is quite a thing to see. One can only imagine how this show would have turned out if it was picked up by a network. I got to see the whole episode on the link you sent, plus bonus of her and Joan Crawford's sentiments, etc. Thanks again. I really enjoyed that, and given the time the sitcom was made, it wasn't bad and probably would have turned out to be a sitcom classic had it been done. Shucks! lol

Thank you!! I don't usually sign these things. I'm always afraid someone is up to no good and will use my info for a nefarious reason, and if my PC is somehow hacked or whatever, then shame on my, but.... I signed it only because I like Betty Hutton so much.

Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy - Lifelong love

End of a good story. :-) -

Thanks for the link, but I'll pass on the vintage comic books, and I'm not into reprints. lol I guess it's a carry over from my usual disdain for remakes of movies. I pretty much can't get into the remakes of anything. Either I have to have the old, or I'll pass. lol The link to You Tube you gave me was most satisfying and I can live with that. However, I have purchased three items off Ebay I had as a kid. A book and two toys. lol I loved all three and play with the toys often. :-) And I have a trunk full of clothes and what have you of my mom's from the 20s-30s-40s-50s, etc. I even have clothes and stuff of my great and grand mas. lol

Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy - Lifelong love

> {quote:title=toyota1 wrote:}{quote} > PLEASE, PLEASE!! The loves of Jeanette MacDonald's and Nelson Eddy's lives were EACH OTHER! I am so sick of this G. Raymond bit. He was nothing but a gigolo, willing to take money from Nelson not to marry Jeanette! Raymond lived a lie to Jeannette in his personal life, all during the "marriage". After her passing, he married another wealthy woman for many many years. > > Jeanette & Nelson loved each other from almost the moment they met. They met in 1933, dated, filmed "Naughty Marietta" in 1934. And Mayer did everything in his power to stop them from marrying. Mayer is the one who forced that so-called "marriage" on Jeanette. Remember - this was in 1937 and Hollywood was like that. > J & N tried so long and hard to be together - this went on for yrs. and yrs., until the end of their lives, with many illnesses and sadnesses occurring that ruined their health and shortened their lives. Of course, their terribly unhappy "marriages" contributed so heavily to this. So sad. > > For Heaven's sake, PLEASE state the truth; I do not understand why you do not! Give mention of the excellent book "Sweethearts", both editions, by the wonderful Sharon Rich, president and founder of the MacEddy website. It is excellent. And don't you even notice the way they look at each other in all of their films? I was only 12 yrs. old and even then I knew they loved each other just by the way they looked together. > > Please, I implore you, let all know what trusted people knew in J & N's day - their lifelong love for each other. Wow! You sound so passionate about this! Aw. So sad they had that kind of love and unable to have a life together. I had no idea. :-( -

Little Lotta, Polka Dot, of course Casper, and on and on and on. Oh how I wish I had them all now! As I read them, I traded them in for others. Sigh. lol Oh, and how stupid of me to even have to guess MGM had cartoons, duh! :-)

As soon as saw the Jack in the Box and H, and the other characters, I remembered the cartoons right off! Casper was my bestest friend, and I was Baby Huey for Halloween one year. I even have a fadiing Polaroid to prove it! lol Yes, they were one of my faves, too. Thanks for the link and the memories. I'll be going back there many times seeing all the toons listed. :-)

They were great but took a nose dive (quality wise) after 1956. A mystery why such a studio that did such great work came to a screeching halt. People think I ( or my mother) was crazy, but even as a small child I was never awake early on Saturdays to watch cartoons. I was always up late watching the old movies with my mom. lol I love Warner Bros., and I think MGM did cartoons, too. I love Max Fleischer (sp) Hanna Barbera, Universal, but i don't think I ever heard of Harveytoons. I'll have to check online and YouTube. Thanks! :-)

The essential Judy Garland story
georgiegirl replied to PTAndersonFan's topic in General Discussions
I was not making light of you when I said scary fan. I was just repeating what you said and that I found it funny you said that. lol I got what you meant. :-) I, on the other hand, would be a scary fan if it came to Clark Gable! His Duzzy was up for sale years ago. If I'd had the money I'd have jumped on it without giving it a second thought. lol Oh, I wish if you ever got to be near Liza again, you'd tell her there are so many of us out here who want only good things for her. She seems so vulnerable and she's had so many bad breaks. I'd hate to see her come to the same end as Judy. That would be just too, too cruel. It's sounds to me like you have some collection of Judy memorabilia, and a charmed life. I'd give anything to be around celebs of yesteryear, and a few of the newer celebs. You have great restraint. I'd go nuts! Not really, but I'd be just so dumbfounded. lol -
The essential Judy Garland story
georgiegirl replied to PTAndersonFan's topic in General Discussions
> GeorgieGirl, I have a recording of the tapes Judy (drunkenly) made late at night for weeks for her unfinished "autobiography" in the late 60's --- would that be unplugged enough for you? At times I'd say unhinged. Oh, man, I'd say that's as unplugged as one could get, but I'm sure it'd break my heart to hear her. Her life can bring a tear to my eye. I loved her on Jack Parr, but it broke my heart to see her so broken sometimes. It seems to me Liza is in need of a good friend to help her these days. Her life has been almost as heartbreaking. Did you ever hear the story Lana Turner's daughter, Cheryl, told Oprah about Judy?
