Thanks for this information. It's very sad for someone to die at such a young age.

I've loved movies since childhood and I would get so involved that my family could never get my attention. There are so many favorites, and sometimes I make a request on 'Suggest a Movie' and tonight I was thinking about Jean Simmons (who is one of my favorite actresses) and requested "The Blue Lagoon" from 1949 with Donald Houston.  I really adore this film and it is one of my favorite Jean Simmons movies.....so maybe TCM or another movie network will feature it....or maybe I'll purchase it through ioffer.com or another dvd seller. Have a great night. (BTW, I forced my husband to go with me to Walmart.)

Went to Walmart to do food shopping.....and then came home and watched "Double Indemnity" which I can never watch enough. Love Billy Wilder movies.  I think I've watched this film and "The Apartment" a zillion times. And Edward G. steals every scene.....he's one of my favorites.

  4. I just learned that actress Emma Chambers passed away from a heart attack on Feb. 21. I was so shocked by her passing. I've been a fan of Emma's since the first time I saw her as Alice Tinker on "The Vicar of Dibley" starring Dawn French.  I will miss her very much.  She brought me great pleasure.

Thanks, Princess. I'm sure it was the shock which upset me and she was so young. Your remark about growing up with certain performers really hit home. From the moment I saw James Garner as Bret Maverick, a love affair began which has never ended. I even changed the lyrics to the Maverick theme song to include my name. I couldn't wait to watch him every Sunday night at 7:30PM. I did meet Bette Davis and Olivia de Havilland in Brooklyn at the Loew's Kings movie theater.  They were promoting "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" and both were exceptionally charming, but Bette was "Bette" and absolutely superb. It was a night I'll never forget.  Thanks so much for responding about Emma Chambers. I will always remember her great talent and the wonderful joy she gave me.

Thanks, Princess, for your response. It's "funny" but when a performer dies, especially one whom I fond of, I usually take it in stride. However, I can remember certain performers who, after I learned they passed away, I just started sobbing - in particular Bette Davis, James Cagney, and James Garner. The same reaction occurred when I learned that Emma Chambers had died. I never missed an episode of "The Vicar of Dibley" and couldn't wait for Emma's entrance. Emma, may you rest in peace.
