  5. I think that these movies fill the bill: "Sleep My Love" 1948 - Rich Claudette Colbert being driven crazy by husband Don Ameche but saved in the end by Robert Cummings. "So Long At the Fair" - 1950 - Jean Simmons and brother David Tomlinson come to Paris for the Exposition and brother goes "missing". The hotel staff deny ever seeing the brother and try to make Miss Simmons believe there was no brother. Coming to her rescue is Dirk Bogarde who is the only one who believes her since he's obviously attracted to her and he also borrowed a 5 pound note from her brother to pay for cab fare. "'Dangerous Crossing" 1953 - A definite "take-off" of So Long At The Fair - with a slight twist - Rich newly married heiress Jeanne Crain and husband Carl Betz are on a honeymoon cruise but soon hubby goes missing. Miss Crain cannot convince any of the crew or passengers that there really is a husband but finally the ship's doctor Michael Rennie comes to her aid. "Rebecca" 1940 - Hitchcock's first direction of a Hollywood movie and it's a beaut. Great adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's brilliant novel (which I've read at least a dozen times). The new bride of Maxim de Winter is haunted by the deceased first wife "Rebecca" of Maxim not only in Mandelay with all of Rebecca's memories in each nook and cranny but by the diabolical housekeeper Mrs. Danvers played to the hilt by the glorious Judith Anderson. Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier are superb as is the entire cast. "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" 1964 - Bette Davis (Charlotte) has been haunted by the death of her boyfriend on the night of what was to be their wedding. She invites her cousin Olivia De Havilland to comfort her, however, cousin, along with a good doctor played by the wonderful Joseph Cotton systematically try to drive poor Charlotte crazy for the money of course. Terrific and entertaining. And Bette and Olivia are marvelous together as always.
  6. Janet Leigh was in "The Perfect Furlough" with King Donovan
  7. Kathleen Freeman was in "The Nutty Professor" (1963) with Jerry Lewis
  8. Queeg, Lt. Cmdr. Philip Francis - Humphrey Bogart in "The Caine Mutiny" (1954)
  9. Right again, Azure. Great film, great actor, great part. "The Lion In Winter" has some of the greatest acting ever seen in one movie. I love this movie. The casting of Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn is pure magic. I've seen this movie more times than I can count. Azure, it's your turn
  10. Azure, Correct on both answers. Joseph Schildkraut's character was Anthony Marchaund. I think that due to his character name, the film had so many aka titles - Mr. M. And The Pidgeons, The Amazing Mr. M, The Magnificent Mr. M, & The Magnificent Rogue. Republic re-released the film in 1949 with a new title "The Castaway" and Republic sold the film in the late 50's for late night TV. The film appeared on TV consistently as a Christmas staple during the 60's and 70's. I believe that TCM has aired "The Cheaters" at least once. I love the movie and would love to see it on TCM. "Mr. Pidgeon" and "Mrs. Pidgeon" are played by the great character actor and actress Eugene Pallette and Billie Burke both of whom have appeared in dozens of "screwball comedies". Good job, Azure. It's your turn.
  11. Nugent, Richard - Cary Grant in "The Bachelor And The Bobby Soxer"
  12. Princess, Although this isn't who I was thinking of, your answer certainly fits the bill. So, the thread is yours.
