Paul Sorvino is James Caan's bookie in THE GAMBLER (1974) which, in this writer's opinion, is the best film about gambling addiction. James Caan's performance is superb as is the cast which includes Morris Carnovsky and Jacqueline Brookes, who portray Caan's mother and grandfather, with excellent direction by Karel Reisz.
