  4. Miles, terrific job to this multi-question. I found it so interesting that "Destry Rides Again" has had such a diversified background. On a personal note, the Broadway musical "Destry Rides Again" was my first time in a Broadway theatre. The show starring Andy Griffith and Dolores Gray and Scott Brady was an amazing experience. The greatest thing was the dancing with choreography by Michael Kidd which featured future choreographers Mark Breaux, Dedee Wood, Swen Swenson, and George Reader. I'll never forget that evening - the excitement and anticipation and then the lights grew dim and the conductor in the orchestra pit tapped his baton and then came the overture. From that moment on, I was hooked. I'll never forget that night which was the beginning of my love of musical theater and eventually plays. What a night! Happy New Year -- and it's your thread.

  8. Thanks, Lavender - And Happy New Year. This western character began as the title of a 1930 novel. It then was made into a 1932 movie starring a very famous western movie star. A remake movie was made in 1939 starring a Hollywood legendary actor in the title role. In 1954 another movie remake was made starring a decorated WWII hero. It was then made into a Broadway musical starring an actor who would become a TV legend. Lastly, it was made into a short-lived TV series starring a very popular leading man of the 50's and early 60's. Name the western character which began as the title of the 1930 novel, the name of the famous western movie star in the 1932 movie of the same title, the name of the Hollywood legendary actor who starred in the 1939 movie remake with the same title, the name of the decorated WWII hero who starred in the 1954 movie remake, and the name of the actor who would become a TV legend who starred in the Broadway musical of this western novel character. Extra points for naming the actor who portrayed this western character in the short-lived TV series.
