  1. I love the fact you included Orry Kelly. It never would have occurred to me to mention Hollywood fashion designers. And they deserve a shout-out every now and then!

    Happy New Year. :)

Happy New Year to you and everyone

  2. Lavender, Yes. I did. Thanks for catching that mistake on my part. Too much holiday cheer.

Since the thread is the same in both Retro and Catchall, let's just discount Catchall and keep this thread. If that's okay with everyone.

I meant to say "Trivia" (not Retro).

  3. Marsha, did you also post this question in the Catchall thread? Is this the same question?

Lavender, Yes. I did. Thanks for catching that mistake on my part. Too much holiday cheer.

  5. They have all played Dolly, of "Hello, Dolly!" fame

Right. After Carol Channing left the original Broadway cast David Merrick (being the "genius" producer that he was) contracted each of these amazing performers to play Dolly Levi on the New York stage. I believe that Mary Martin also played Dolly in the road company of Hello Dolly. Good job, Kid. The thread is yours.

  6. You got it! Irene was a great friend of mine, and I miss her. She once told me that I should see her 1958 film Orders to Kill. I never saw it in her lifetime -- TCM finally showed it a few years ago. Irene was amazing -- every glance, word, gesture.  I remember shouting at the television, "Irene, you're brilliant!" She was an extraordinary woman.

And the thread is now yours, Marsha.

Swithin, Thank you for sharing your friendship with Irene Worth who truly was an amazing actress. I can truly understand your shouting at the television telling her how brilliant she was. We're fortunate to have her film performances to watch over and over again.

    The thread is open.
