  1. Okay, Swithin. I believe the actress is Irene Worth. Miss Worth won Best Actress Tony Awards for "Tiny Alice" and "Sweet Bird of Youth" and a third Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in "Lost In Yonkers". Miss Worth played Ian McKellen's mother Volumnia in a stage production of "Coriolanus" at the National Theater. (At the request of Joseph Papp Miss Worth played this role again opposite Christopher Walken as Corolianus in an off-Broadway production.)
  2. Rita Moreno was in "Carnal Knowledge" with Jack Nicholson
  3. William Shatner was in "The Brothers Karamazov" with Yul Brynner
  4. John Mills first screen role in 1932, last screen role in 2004...seven decades
  5. Swithin, I've come up with almost all of your post. The last part being questinable The actress is the great Uta Hagen, who won Tony Awards for her role as Georgie in "The Country Girl" and Martha in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf". The only play I can think of in which she played Ian McKellen's mother is "The Cherry Orchard".
  6. Lavender - "Rear Window" is correct. James Stewart just couldn't help "peeping" at his neighbors waiting for his broken leg to mend. The thread is yours.
