"Unflinching" is the right word for Boys Don't Cry; Hilary Swank, Chloë Sevigny, and Peter Sarsgaard gave outstanding performances.

Two very enjoyable action movies this year: Speed and True Lies. We went to the movies one evening and the line for True Lies was so long we ended up seeing The Lion King; we didn't find out the bridge was out until days later.

The Ice Storm was one of the best movies that year, and Joan Allen was excellent.
