  1. Looking for Richard is the only film directed by Al Pacino that I've seen. Daniel Day-Lewis, Joan Allen, and Paul Scofield are the main reasons for me to watch The Crucible; Paul Scofield gives a solid, intelligent performance as Danforth, a tricky character to play.
  2. Billy - Brad Dourif in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
  3. A Face in the Crowd next: Arnold Bennett
  4. The Lost World According to Garp
  5. Bertrand, Robert R. - Sound Designer (The Sting)
  6. James Best was in The Left Handed Gun with Paul Newman next: Michael Chekhov
  7. On the English front: Oh! What a Lovely War A Private Function The Virgin Soldiers
  8. Zeena - Joan Blondell in Nightmare Alley
  9. I absolutely love The Gods Must Be Crazy, but I haven't seen in quite a while and I wish I could see it again. Jamie Uys also directed Dirkie, another favorte of mine.
  10. Maggie Smith is one my top favorite actresses of all time. She was great in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, and Celia Johnson was equally good.
  11. Aliens is one of my favorites, a very well made sequel with Sigourney Weaver in excellent form. The Fly is a fantastic horror movie.
  12. I agree that Prizzi's Honor is one of John Huston's better movies (my favorite John Huston movie is The Dead). I liked Brazil the first time I saw it, but i didn't fully appreciated until I saw it the second time.
  13. Holly Hunter and Albert Brooks are excellent in Broadcast News. When he warns her about Tom and then confesses his love for her is my favorite scene in the movie.
  14. The Fabulous Baker Boys and Enemies, A Love Story are easily the top movies this year for me. They're both well written, well directed, and well acted. Anjelica Huston and Lena Olin are the standouts in Enemies. Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges are great in Fabulous, but Michelle Pfeiffer is smashing.
  15. Dead Ringers, Die Hard, Big, and Working Girl are the standouts this year. I didn't see Cocoon: The Return because I didn't like the first one that much.
  16. Barton Fink, Naked Lunch, and The Commitments are the most interesting movies this year. I also liked Class Action more than I thought I would.
  17. Same Time, Next Year next: Patrick Dennis
  18. I didn't like it very much, either. The beginning is stunning, and then the movie went on at a very slow pace. The scenes that I remember are possibly the only scenes that I liked. Maybe I need to see it again, 2 or 3 more times. It's interesting how we sometimes change our minds about a movie or book after a while. And as for the Oscars that year, my favorite is Atlantic City.
