And we don't know yet if it's going to win. Me - ...? Mom - Be quiet. (Minutes later a man was speaking, saying "Thank you" or something). Me - Is that Ryan? My mother finally grabbed me, locked me in my room, and threw away the key. So Mom, I'm sorry I was being such a pest. I dedicate Ryan's Daughter. I know you will enjoy it where you are.

A man on sabbatical takes his father, who just murdered his wife, on a trip around the country to comfort him. They stop at a small town inhabited by very strange people who seem to live in their own universe. Very funny movie, with absurd situations and some surreal sequences. The cast give excellent performances.

They are discovered and placed in the care of Social Services. Tom is unwilling to adapt to his new environment, but Tom wants to be independent. Excellent and subtly powerful movie, with great performances by the two leads and Dale Dickey in a small role.
