  1. Yes, and I would agree with her in this case (not the test audience). I've always had problems with the way this film "ends" because it doesn't ring true to what she's been fighting for earlier in the picture. It would be like saying Scarlett O'Hara should just give up Tara and beg Rhett to return and farm the land because she doesn't know how to do anything for herself-- and instead she will go shopping for a new petticoat. These women do not need such a 'comeuppance' in order to make the man look better or be more superior.

Well said!  I completely agree with you.  I wish that they had used the original ending.

  2. Princess of Tap, Frank Sinatra actually sang two songs to Grace Kelly in that movie.  Both songs were written by Cole Porter.  One of them is "You're Sensational" and the other is "Mind If I Make Love to You".  Which song are you thinking of?

  3. Woman of the Year -- The original ending had Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy take more of an interest in each other's careers and pastimes.  Unfortunately, this didn't seem to be very popular with the test audience.  It was decided that Hepburn's character should suffer some humiliation since she was so strong and successful in a "man's world".  This ending went against Katharine Hepburn's wishes, but the test audience seemed to like the ending.

  4. Thanks, Princess.

Next:  Two real-life sisters appeared in a 1950s western.  In fact, they portrayed the same person!  The younger sister played the character (as a child) and the older sister played the character (as young woman).  Name the sisters and the movie.

  5. Yes, when some of them hit their teens, they were done. Not everyone worked for decades like Roddy McDowall or Elizabeth Taylor.

Virginia Weidler's last movie was at 16.

Yes, I forgot all about Virginia Weidler!

Kevin Corcoran would have made the list if he hadn't made one last movie in 2009.  Before he made that film, his last movie was in 1968 (he was about 19 years old).

  6. Spring Byington was in Jezebel and It's Love I'm After with Bette, When Ladies Meet with Joan and Meet John Doe with Barbara

That certainly fits the clues very well but, unfortunately, that's not the answer.  Those films can also be eliminated from the list.

The actress who is linked to the other 3 made several films, but she was primarily known as a stage actress.

  7. Self-sacrificing mothers? Bette- That Certain Woman and The Old Maid would be the 2 roles, Stanwyck in Stella Dallas and Crawford in Mildred Pierce???

Your answer fits the clues very well but, unfortunately, it's not the answer that I'm looking for.  Roles that these actresses have played have a connection to another well-known actress.  This may help a little -- None of the roles that have already been mentioned are the roles that I'm thinking of, so you can cross them off the list.
