  1. I've never seen that particular Gene Kelly film. I figured he spoke French fluently. Did not know about Jodie's linguistic abilities, though!

I've never seen any of these films!

Yes, Jodie Foster has been able to speak fluent French since she was a teen.  She went to a French-language prep school.

Check out this video of her speaking French in an informal interview.  She starts speaking at about :45.

  3. Your answer of Hitchcock mistakingly given praise for Witness For the Prosecution and Billy Wilder given praise for The Paradine Case is correct. Good work, thanks again, your thread Azure  :)

    Thanks, Lavender.   Open thread.

  4. Thank You Azure and I did read your lovely post in the 20,000th thread and again, Thank You. Your kind words and that beautiful cake certainly added to the festivities  :)

You're welcome, Lavender.  I'm glad that you enjoyed everything.  You seem to be genuinely appreciative of everyone's posts and I think that's great.

I appreciate the fact that you took the time to say "thank you" to me here on this thread.  I congratulated someone else on one of the game threads before and he completely ignored my post.  He obviously saw it because he quoted it before posting his next question. That was incredibly rude.

  5. First of all, I want to say, "Congrats, Lavender!"  I'll swing by the party and give you my full congratulatory message.

    :)

To answer your question:  I believe that Alfred Hitchcock joked about being praised for directing Witness for the Prosecution (one of my favorites) and Billy Wilder was praised for directing The Paradine Case

  6. The Billion Dollar Brain (1967) - The "brain" is a sophisticated computer that is used by an anti-Communist organization.

    2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - A spacecraft's operations are controlled by a computer (HAL 9000).
