William Holden, Barbara Stanwyck and Golden Boy?
Correct on all counts! Good job, Star. Your turn.

Thanks, Star. That was a very interesting piece of trivia.
Next: During the production of his very first film, a certain actor was almost fired because the director didn't think that he was doing a good job. The lead actress in the film, who was already an established star, fought to keep the actor in the film. The actress had insisted on him being cast in the film in the first place. Due to her kindness and encouragement, the actor's performance improved. He would go on to become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. To thank her for helping him to get his start, the actor sent the actress flowers every year on the anniversary of the first day of filming (for his first film).
Please name the actor, the actress and the film.

This one has been driving me crazy, but I think I've got it. (Finally!) I think that the film is King of the Underworld, which was a remake of Dr. Socrates. The two stars whose ex-spouses married each other are Kay Francis and Humphrey Bogart.
