  1. Destination Tokyo Next: screenplay written by Frances Marion
  2. Good job, Princess. Catharine Lorre was a very lucky woman. The Hillside Strangler(s) brutally raped, tortured and murdered their victims, and dumped their bodies in random places (usually on a hillside, which is how they got their nickname). The murders were committed by Kenneth Bianchi and his cousin, Angelo Buono. While dressed like police officers, they stopped Catharine Lorre and demanded to see some identification. She said that her wallet had been stolen and showed them her citizenship papers. Some photos happened to fall out of her purse and one of the men picked them up. They were Christmas photos of Catharine with her dad. The men were really amused that they had met Peter Lorre's daughter and they decided to let her go. When the men were arrested some time later, she recognized them when she saw their pictures. I can only imagine how she felt when she found out who they were (and realized that she had escaped a horrible death). Very, very scary..... By the way, your guess for the second film was a good one, but it wasn't the one that I had in mind. Spoiler alert!! I was thinking of Stranger on the Third Floor. Some people consider Peter Lorre's character to be a serial killer, but I guess that's debatable. Technically, a serial killer is someone who has killed three or more people...and usually it's for no apparent reason other than personal gratification. In the film, Peter Lorre kills two people and almost kills a third person. Lorre's character was an escapee from an insane asylum, so I guess we can assume that he would have killed more people if he hadn't been stopped. Anyway, sorry for babbling on. It's your turn, Princess.
  3. Correct on all counts. Excellent job, Star! Your turn.
  4. Thanks, Shutoo. Actually, it was Miles who identified wearer of the other dress, not Princess. Since Miles was the first to answer, he can have the thread.
  5. Hint -- The actor was from Europe. He was the lead actor in several films, but he is probably best known for his supporting roles in famous films.
  6. Thanks, Film Lover. Open thread.
  7. Thanks, Lavender. Next: In the 1930s, a stage actress, who was very popular in her day, had an uncredited role in a fairly well known film. The film starred an actress who was quite popular at that time. Five years later, the film actress who starred in the 1930s film portrayed the stage actress in a biopic. Please name the stage actress, the film actress, the 1930s film that they both appeared in and the biopic that was made 5 years later.
  8. Sixteen Candles (Is there a film with 17 in the title??? Maybe we'd better end our numerical-order pattern here. If you want to continue, maybe we can just skip over the numbers that we can't find titles for.)
  9. Shutoo, since you posted the 10th fact, you get to choose the next film.
  10. 2.) She was born on March 8, 1910 in Brooklyn.
  11. "Just Blew in from the Windy City" (from Calamity Jane) Next: a song sung by Jane Russell
  12. OK......take 2!! Was the outfit worn by Marilyn Monroe? (She had 2 wedding ceremonies with Arthur Miller.)
  13. Was the second outfit worn by Lana Turner?
  14. Robert Taylor and Lana Turner in Johnny Eager?
  15. "Let Yourself Go" (from Follow the Fleet) Next: a song from a 1930s Warner Brothers musical
  16. I think that it's The Shrike. Jose Ferrer was the director/star, June Allyson was the leading lady who was cast against type and Saul Bass created the opening title sequence.
  17. Five Came Back Next: a film that made an actor/actress a star
  18. Hello and welcome, Classic Movie Fan. Just to let you know, we aren't looking for only one answer in this game. We post general topics that can apply to more than one film. For example, if someone posts "ice skating", you could answer with The Cutting Edge, Ice Castles, Sun Valley Serenade, etc.
  19. Thanks, Star. Next: In the 1970s, a well known actor's daughter encountered 2 men who were dressed as policemen. They were actually serial killers who intended to kidnap and murder her. However, when the men found out who her father was, they let her go. (Coincidentally, the actor himself had played a serial killer in a film.) Please name the actor, his daughter, the film in which the actor played a serial killer and, if you can, the nickname for the 2 notorious serial killers. Edited to add -- The actor actually played a serial killer in more than one film. I would prefer that you name his best known serial killer film, but you can name the other one if you want.
