Thank you all, so much!
That's it! Indeed, I caught the 1945 version. Now you've got me inspired to obtain the novel itself.
I've been pondering this personal mystery of mine for many months, and it took me this long to get on the Web and find this wonderful forum.
Looking forward to more posts and reading down the road.
Thanks again!

Hi all,
First post...can anybody out here in TCM land tell me what movie it was I watched on TCM?
It was black and white, and a group of people were spending the night in large, sort-of scary house. This house was perched atop a snow-covered mountain, and there was only one way down (I can't recall how).
I can't remember the circumstances...I think they were there for dinner...but as the night wore on, people started to be murdered, one by one. They eventually broke up into groups in an effort to find the killer.
No sooner than somebody was alone or in darkness, they too were murdered.
At the end, an attractive man and woman were (presumably) the only ones left, and each began to suspect the other. Until the owner of the property emerges (or somehow becomes discovered) in an attempt to finish killing them off.
I saw this movie about two years ago, and I really enjoyed it, but I can't remember the actors or the name of it to save my life!
Any help is most appreciated!

This old movie about a group of people in a house, on a mountain...

Thank you for the heads-up...can't wait to watch it again!
Funny how I remembered it being set on top of a mountain, when the summaries online point out that it was on an island.
I still haven't had time to source the novel, as I'm buried in home renovation at the moment. I will order it and hopefully right after Christmastime I can sit by a fire and start reading.
Thanks again, and have a great day!
