The TCM Powell/Loy lineup today was fantastic! They had some serious stuff, which I think they are underrated at, they had William Powell at his kookiest in Double Wedding and everything in between. What a great day sandwiched in between last Saturday's Love Crazy and this Friday's Libeled Lady. The Powell/Loy love from TCM is much appreciated! Together they are unbelievable and can't be beat. Their respect and genuine friendship shows in their performances. On their own, they are two outstanding actors. William Powell, in particular, had an amazing career. His 1920s silent acting is so great. His 1936 alone makes him elite in my opinion. Who has ever done such quality work in one year. His coming back after almost two years off the screen was a testament to his talent and popularity. His later years had some gems, as well. So surprising to me that he was never thought of to have been given an honorary academy award. He should have won one outright. It really is a shame. Well, anyway, today was a perfect rainy day.
