Yeah where is (S)cience during this outbreak,  Covid  it's kryptonite?

Doesn't it suppose to zoom to the rescue and save thousands of lives?

I'm happy to say I've seen science Zoom in and save millions of lives from death and disability.

When Dr Jonas Salk came up with the polio vaccine parents all over the world were thrilled that their children would not have to go through that horror.

Now, I can testify though that the vaccination needle was a little scary in itself.

Today there are scientists and doctors who are working on a vaccine for covid-19. They are just as dedicated as Dr Jonas Salk and fortunately they have a lot more technology than he had when he discovered that unbelievable vaccine.

I could give other examples like penicillin or the smallpox vaccination, but the discovery of the polio vaccine is something I personally experienced so that's how I know the benefits of science.

You are correct, Princess.   While I was researching Michael Landon's recording career for the previous question,  I came a cross a very poor quality YouTube clip of Michael doing the Freddie with the British duo Peter And Gordon.  That's what inspired this question.  Here is a better clip, this time with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello joining Freddie.

They also had a hit with "You Were Made For Me", but "The Freddie" remained their trademark.  Here is "Do The Freddie".

I get the feeling that  some of Freddie's dance moves may have been inspired by Jerry Lewis.  Tell us, Princess, in your vast history of dancing, did you ever do "The Freddie" in your tap shoes?  I would have paid good money to see that.

Princess, you get to post the next one.

Miles, I was too busy doing time steps to think about that kind of silliness. But I'm always open for a business deal.

BTW-- I saw Peter and Gordon in concert once. But they weren't doing "The Freddie".

    Sticking with the British Invasion--

This Northern England group appeared early on in 64 on "The Ed Sullivan Show". They had a number of hits, including one which was written, in part, by a performer who a little later became a big rock star.

Their biggest #1 hit was a cover.

When you identify the group, please also list where they came from, their hit written by the soon-to-be Rockstar and their number one cover hit.

Fauci Urges Trump to Remain on Golf Course Until Pandemic Is Over

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Sharply disagreeing with critics of Donald J. Trump’s weekend visit to the Trump National Golf Club, Dr. Anthony Fauci has urged Trump to remain on the golf course until the pandemic is over.

“The people who are giving you a hard time about your golf trip are just haters,” Fauci told Trump on Sunday. “It’s in the best interest of everyone in the country that you keep golfing, Mr. President.”

    “Please,” he added.

Trump was reportedly surprised by the doctor’s words of encouragement, especially because the golf trip had limited the President’s ability to communicate with Fauci, the Centers for Disease Control, and other scientists involved in the coronavirus response.

“It’s been tough without you, but we are doing the best we can,” Fauci said. “After all the hard work you’ve done, you deserve months and months and months of golfing.”

Fauci also recommended that Trump throw away his phone, stop talking to the press, and not tell anyone about the great idea he had on the golf course about using lawn fertilizer to protect people from the coronavirus.

Yes, someone else noted yesterday that Birx was clearly saying this as cover for Trump to go golfing.
But when it’s NOT okay to golfing, is when 100,000 Americans have just died in two months, and the numbers are still rising. Then you don’t go freaking golf. You do your job.

The Republican House Select Committee on Benghazi spent 31 months investigating the death of 4 Americans, to find no wrongdoing.
Now 100,000 Americans have died in 3 months and not a single Republican has a thing to say, other than to enable and get behind Trump.

That's tragically too many Americans dead, but it's tragically only the beginning.

Does the GOP even realize that these are American citizens who looked to them for representation, many who have even voted for them?

And every one of these people has family and friends and community and coworkers who are very concerned about the situation.

The GOP is going to lose their fake front before the election, if they have not  lost it already.

Thanks Lavender.  Now this next one should be easy.

During the "British Invasion" of the sixties, there were many British musical groups that appeared on American television.  One particular group had a unique gimmick with some of their songs.  The lead singer, as well as the band members, would do a sort of dance which involved kicking their legs out to either side in unison with one another while they were performing the song.  Can you name the group, the dance, and at least one of their hit songs?

Freddie and The Dreamers--" I'm Telling You Now".

I was quite a devotee of the British Invasion movement. I Bought a lot of those records and a few albums, but I can easily say Freddie's group was not among those that I spent money on.

    But he was rather amusing.

And he barely had another hit called "Do the Freddie"-- which is the dance you were referring to.
