  1. Hint#2-- this is not an American movie.
  2. This British actor claims that he became an actor because he liked the lifestyle. Particularly he liked the lifestyle of Richard Burton.
  3. This actor was one of the biggest movie stars of all time. The kind of roles that he did probably made some people believe that he wasn't a stage actor. But he started on Broadway and wasn't afraid to go back to the Stage anytime he felt like it. That may have been in part because he came from a family that had a stage background. When your name this actor, can you tell us why a lot of people would be surprised to know that he was an accomplished stage actor as well?
  4. Elvis, no. Hint-- But without giving it, away we're talking about rock and roll artists on the level of Elvis Presley.
  5. This is Henry Aldrich's best friend Dizzy aka Charles Smith.
  6. Paraphrasing a quote from a famous rock and roll movie-- " I can play it your way, I can plan my way or I don't have to play at all." Please identify the speaker, who the person is speaking to and, of course, the name of the movie.
  7. Charles Bronson was a heavy in Pat & Mike with Katharine Hepburn.
  8. I'm assuming that the second name is supposed to be Fred Astaire's sister Adele Astaire. Considering what a reticent and discreet man Fred Astaire was, I think it would be better to talk to his sister Adele, if you really wanted to find out what he was all about. Next: Jeanne Coyne or Carol Haney?
  9. Rock Hudson made a number of movies under the direction Douglas Sirk.
  10. This blacklisted director had an unusual career. He continued to work as an actor while he was a successful movie director in Hollywood. Unbelievably his anti-Nazi subject matter in his Cinema got him in trouble during the McCarthy era. He made a variety of films in just about every genre - - religious, war, musical, wartime drama, western, romantic comedy and several legendary noirs. Today he is best remembered for having discovered one of the last major movie stars of the studio era. When you identify this director, please tell us about his Cinema and some of the artists that he worked with.
  11. Swithin-- I looked up Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss--Wow! They wrote a hit for one of my favorite legitimate singers - - Perry Como's Catch a Falling Star. That's really something! Thanx for the info.
  12. To Frank in Ohio-- Thanks for George's Tax Man - it's my favorite opening on my favorite Beatle album.
  13. James-- You seem to know so much about guitar records-- tell me who is playing Roll Over Beethoven on the Beatles second American album,if it wasn't George Harrison. Because whoever it was--it was damn good. I think I like it better than the Chuck Berry original.
  14. Miles, next you'll be telling us that Bob Hope played the part on Broadway and also presented it in a TV special. One last bitter note about Roberta- - I never got to see it until it came out on VHS in the 1980s. When Metro bought the rights and made Lovely to Look at, they made sure that none of us would get to see the original Roberta on TV. I used to call it the Lost Astaire and Rogers Musical. They used to show it at revival theaters in Paris, but somehow I missed that one too. Star-- it's still your turn!
  15. I must be falling asleep at the wheel --I thought I answered this yesterday but I guess I didn't hit the button. Heroin addict Eric Clapton had a friend named Pete Townsend of The Who and that's what brought him together for the rock opera Tommy. Ann-Margaret was nominated for an Oscar for the movie. Never saw the movie but I liked that single that played on the radio. I also liked the single Cocaine by Eric Clapton - - so I can see he was a cocaine addict too. At any rate, it didn't destroy his looks - - he still looks better than Keith Richards.
  16. Star-- one technical point about this song lyric Oscar Hammerstein wrote the original lyrics for the Broadway show. For the Fred Astaire movie Dorothy Fields wrote her own lyrics especially for Astaire. And Dorothy and Jerome Kern would later go on to write Swing Time together. Both sets of lyrics are quite good. Now I'll take somebody's lyrics from the song and say merci beaucoup-- Star your turn--
  17. Star you got it - - Carol Haney was the one dancer that I wanted to dance like when I was growing up. Gene Kelly directed Flower Drum Song on Broadway and she choreographed it. She was nominated for a Tony for Flower Drum song and posthumously for Funny Girl. She was with Gene through all those movies. He had this very Gallant way of saying that the reason he didn't star her in the movies was because MGM said she wasn't photogenic. What would women say about that today? Star, well done - - it's all yours.
  18. Stanley Donen was not a dance assistant for Gene Kelly. Kelly and Donen were co-film directors and co- choreographers of equal standing.
  19. If you want obscurity-- this is obscurity- - in 1963 Vivien Leigh did a musical based on Tovarich. And apparently it was a Broadway hit. So what is more obscure? The movie or the Broadway hit? By the way, the musical was called Tovarich.
  20. 6) DeForest Kelley played one of the suitors of Susan Hayward in Where Love Has Gone.
  21. Hint#2-- This dance professional was a great dancer, but never became a famous dancer.
  22. Your answer doesn't fit the initial question.
  23. Jerry Lewis-- I'm too old to handle the Killer! Next-- 2 more yellow sun people-- Ricky Nelson or Johnny Cash?
