  1. The Stones first three albums really sucked. I've got nothing else to say. Except I bought them anyway. Oh I can say Eric Burdon sings better than Mick Jagger.
  2. 7) Garbo famously left her film lover, Jack Gilbert, standing at the altar.
  3. Lawrence, do you still want to play this thread?
  4. A jilted lover sets up her unbeknowing ex with a prostitute.
  5. Let's see, I did country western, I did rock-- all my favorite artists --there's nothing left but R&B - - Ike and Tina Turner, What's Love Got to Do With It--Angela Bassett starring with Laurence Fishburne. FYI-- I like the original artists so much that I haven't seen any of these movies.
  6. I've been looking forward to seeing Craig's Wife and Anthony Adverse for what seems to be like my entire life. And I really have had my interest piqued in Desire and Beloved Enemy. I saw the Garden of Allah several years ago on DVD; it was a real sensual movie without much substance. But you really must see Basil Rathbone in this unusual role. I can't say much for Dodsworth or Come and Get It - - each has some good parts to it but for the most part I thought they were stodgy and in need of some good editing. What little I liked in Dodsworth came from Mary Astor - - I followed her career right to the end and it was fabulous at the end. The ill-fated Frances Farmer was the best thing in Come and Get-- she had a great deal of potential. I know my memory is fading on Rembrandt, so I must see it again. **1936 I think was the best year for tap dancing--Fred Astaire scored in Swing Time with Bojangles of Harlem and Eleanor Powell scored with Swinging the Jinx Away in Born To Dance. They really were the first two tap dancers in the movies to bring the technique of ballet into complicated and sophisticated tap dance routines. For which some people were thrilled about and others really just hated it. But by doing so, they paved the way for Gene Kelly in the 40s.
  7. Back in the eighties I had Showtime. I watched the special with Carl Perkins. He'd invited all his protégés to play withe him-- so he has Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Eric Clapton. I was having a total fit to see Patty Boyd sitting next to George Harrison's second wife and all of them together so amiably. It was a Beatlemaniac's dream. I always thought that that second side of the 65 album - - with Ringo doing Honey Don't And George Harrison doing Everybody's Trying to be my Baby Now was the essence of rock and roll. They were just special Classics for me personally.
  8. Walk the Line I think the blonde Reese Witherspoon played June Carter Cash-- I don't know how-- I'm sorry I don't do tabloids.
  9. Mrs. Jessica Fletcher-- Angela Lansbury
  10. 1) The Swedish Greta Garbo played a real Swedish Queen in Queen Christina.
  11. Banana barked, so I think you're right. He's my final Authority on Brian Wilson. Lawrence it's your turn--
  12. Wild Bill William Wellman directed Janet Gaynor's A Star is Born.
  13. This won't get me points but Jingles is Andy Devine's name. He was my favorite. Is his horse named Nellie Bell?
  14. I hesitate to answer this question because I don't know that much about Jean Renoir's Cinema. I've only seen La Grande illusion et La Règle de jeu-- the first I love the second I hated. So I don't know if I would be a good commentator on this one. Truth is I love everything I've ever seen Erich von Stroheim in.That's all I can say. Weirdly I thought Renoir was the best actor in The Rules of the Game. His part was the one that he cut out the most after critics and the audience panned the film. And I also love the paintings that his father did of him. That's The best I can do.
  15. GPF-- my favorite male singer, Andy Williams, has a wonderful recording of As Time Goes By on his Moon River album. It's the only version that I like.
  16. Richard Burton Next: Peter Finch are Trevor Howard?
  17. Lav, that's right Carole was the great prankster. She brought the cattle right on the set. She was a great personal friend of the Hitchcocks. Hitchcock made this romantic comedy just to please Carole. I believe it's the only comedy he ever did. And it's a very good one. Lav, it's your turn - -
  18. I'll go ahead and give you a hint - - this actress was famous for practical jokes.
  19. If Alex Romero fits the criteria, it's up to you to show me. I have to admit; he's not the person that I'm thinking about.
