  3. I gotta Maxey Ford my way into this one-- Norman Z. McLeod directed two of my favorite tap dancers: Eleanor Powell in Born to Dance and Lady Be Good and Fred Astaire with Betty Hutton in Let's Dance. Also he directed one of the Golden Age of Hollywood's favorite romantic comedies, Topper. However, he made his reputation by directing hardcore comedies with the top no-nonsense comedians - - WC Fields, the Marx Brothers Bob Hope and Danny Kaye. And if that wasn't enough, he directed my beloved Zasu Pitts on television with Gail Storm in Oh, Susanna! You gotta love this guy.

  8. Just heard about Frank jr. dying. NPR said he was getting ready to go on stage and sing his father's music. It was wonderful how he kept his father's Legacy Alive by performing that music. And he had a lot of courage to go out and perform it after his father.
  9. Dargo-- we can talk about Jerry Lewis and Hitler because Jerry made a film about the Holocaust. It's an unbelievable subject matter-- about a clown who leads children into the gas chambers during the Holocaust. It's called the day The Day the Clown Died. For a multitude of reasons, Jerry did not release it. I wonder if anybody has seen this movie? I just found out about it recently.

  16. Miles, you're absolutely right. John Bubbles may be the only tap dancer who ever ever came close to challenging Bojangles for that crown. Mr.Bubbles opened for Judy Garland and taught her kids how to tap dance. Judy Garland's ex husband, Vincent Minnelli directed Mr. Bubbles in his great performance in Cabin in the Sky. And of course, this tap dancer is the original Sportin' Life in Porgy and Bess on Broadway. Miles, thanks for the video. Your turn--
