  10. Miles, very good job! I know that you'll never let me down. I thought about little Johnny after my memory just started to get jogged after seeing Dinah. I particularly remember seeing them on Perry Como all the time. Stellar performance as usual, Miles. But, I have to protest this word aging - - I think that is an ageist word. However, Mr Archer, you are allowed to speak for yourself. Next up, if he can make it up the steps, is the aging but stellar Miles - -

  13. Very very correct. Of all of Astaire's movie tunes, this one isn't very well known. But tap dancers do favor it. Polecat, do you have a song for us?
  14. 9) Co-starred with Richard Chamberlain in the extravaganza made for TV movie Shogun.
  15. Well Miles, you finally gave Ellie her due... Eleanor Powell is the greatest tap dancer in movies, next to the great man himself, Bojangles. That's the female viewpoint, of course. But Bo christened her The Queen of Tap at the Cotton Club--and the title stuck. Louis B. Mayer hired Cole Porter just to write for her. She was born to tap dance! GOOD SHOW, Miles, it's your turn to Follow Thru - -
  16. 7) Toshiro Mifune was one of the many illustrious stars in the cast of MIDWAY.
  17. MILES, you are too kind. To really make my day, I would like to imagine that you look and sing like Tony Martin. Next: Can you guess the title of the song by these lyrics ?- - I'm up among stars On earthly things I frown I'm throwing off the bars That held me down Movie, performer, composer and/or lyricist--
  18. Miles, I'm going to be a stickler on this one. Now it's true Jack Haley did do some dancing. And it's true that he and Zelma sang and introduced this number in the show follow through. But after they first presented the song, a tap dancer came out and stopped the show! This one little tap dance led the tap dancer to Hollywood and a major contract with a major motion picture studio. The tap dancer became a major Hollywood movie star. The category is from Broadway to Hollywood and button up your overcoat is what took this dancer there. Do you know the routine?- - tap dancer, studio, & Brownie points-- I wasn't a Cub Scout--for composer and lyricist of the song. FYI-- they scratched one original lyric in the movie-- and it is- - keep away from bootleg hooch when you're on a spree, take good care of yourself you belong to me.
  19. Thanx, Miles. DINAH was perfect for the new medium. Next-- This musician sold newspapers until he was discovered in a contest. Then he went on to appear in a number of Hollywood Golden Age movies. But he became famous on Golden Age television variety shows. You could see him on Ed Sullivan, the Texaco Milton Berle show, or The Hollywood Palace. He became a fixture on these shows. He also played for the royal family in England and presidents of the United States and France. He was the star of his own small 6 piece band. They all played the same instrument. HE often appeared dressed like a cowboy, wearing chaps. Comedy was as important as music to this group. This is retro time - - can you name the man and his group? .
