In 1960 she hosted a prime-time CBS television show the Kate Smith show. Kate Smith first sang God Bless America on Armistice Day in 1938. The composer, Irving Berlin and the singer, Kate Smith never took any royalties. The 10 million dollars in royalties was given to the Boys and Girls Scouts of America. This category is retro and Kate Smith is definitely retro. I know all about this afternoon show because I used to watch it in the afternoon. And sing along with her.
