Miles, much to my shock and surprise to see that Paul Reed was in a lot of musicals. I was totally surprised. Most of them were operettas so I didn't think there would be anything similar to what I was going for. But I forgot all about here 's love. Anyway! I've seen Dionne Warwick in concert three times - - so you know it was Burt Bacharach and Hal David's Promises Promises. Paul Reed led the adulteress executives in a comedic song called - - "where can you take a girl? - that you can take home?" FYI-- I saw the original production with Jerry Orbach. Dionne Warwick recorded all the songs sung by the leading lady, but I'll never fall in love again became the biggest hit on the radio. However, I say a little prayer was not in the score in the original show. They probably put it in a revival, and Burt Bacharach must have agreed to it. But this song was in the Top 10 in 1967 and promises promises debuted 1969. I'm sorry about the mixup, but I forgot all about that one show because all the other shows were musicals which had originally been musicals, not adaptations. Miles-- I can see you riding that horse on 42nd street--a cowboy on Broadway - - well done--take it away, Miles

Well, Marsha-- that's a wonderful Broadway story. Which reminds me of the first time I went to a Broadway show. I was at the Shubert Theatre. Being a TV Fanatic, I was thrilled to see an actor from one of my favorite TV shows-- Captain Block from Car 54. Do you remember how he used to sing in the shows on special occasions? Well, he was singing in this show very well because, after all, it was a musical. Can you name this actor, the musical, the song he sang, and for extra brownie points, the Hollywood movie that the musical was based on? FYI-- the key is this Hollywood movie was not a musical.

This veteran actress was a Ross Hunter staple. But before Hunter, she'd been appearing in Hollywood movies for decades. A beautiful woman, her Hollywood claim to fame was being the mistress of, the man who some people would say is, the greatest movie star of the golden era.

Well, Miles, I am impressed. You didn't happen to also see Laraine Day by any chance, did you? Miles, you're up to bat - -

Miles, we're talking about a major singing star here. The kind that they write whole chapters about in the history of American music. The singer's daily TV show ran from 1950 to 1954.

Miles, it could be and yes it is--the Great Dwight Frye. If only he had not dropped that brain! Miles, do you want to give it a go? - -

Hint #3-- the leading man was a good journeyman actor but the second male lead was somewhat of a legend in Hollywood. He had a very good film career and all kinds of movies. But His most interesting career was in real life - - he was the favorite dancing escort for single leading ladies, like Joan Crawford.
