Hint--Runnin' Wild & My First Love are from a 1960's film. These songs have no association with some like it hot. They are from another movie. Can you name the composer and the movie?

Marsha, this thread is still yours - -

He was one of America's favorite singers. He was very popular on radio and in television. He also had a movie career - - This guy made musicals at two different major studios. Can you name the singer and at least one movie he made at each of these two major studios? The bonus is one of his many many hit records-- do you remember any of them? Hint:-- His movies were not broad comedies or dramas. They were musicals simply put.

This actor had an up-and-coming versatile career on the Broadway stage in the 1920's. Coming to Hollywood in the 1930s, he gave such outstanding performancestors in the horror genre that he became typecast. He is probably the most influential character actor in classic horror movies. Can you name him?

Marsha, I've been having the same problem and I use a tablet-- You did a great job on this one I don't think it was easy very few people have any idea about this woman's unbelievable career. I come from Kansas and our greatest playwright is William Inge. He won the Pulitzer Prize. Come back little Sheba is his greatest play. So I kind of have the inside track on that one. Yeah, that actress who played hazel on TV, Shirley booth, was one of the greatest actresses in 20th century American theatre. Marsha, its all yours--

This performer was a success in every venue: Broadway, Hollywood, radio, and television. The proof was this: an Oscar, 3 Tonys and 2 Emmy's. the performer started on Broadway in the 1920's and continued in plays and musicals through the 1950's. In addition to this work, in the forties, the performer also appeared in a popular comedy radio series. But one 1950's Broadway play that the performer starred in led to a recreation of that role in Hollywood. After that, this performers career was a combination of Hollywood movies and Broadway plays. By the 1960's television was the only venue untried by this performer. So the performer tackled TV and became a TV star. In fact most people know this performer not from Broadway or movies but from a Sitcom. The character that the performer played became a household name. Can you name this performer?

I believe Patti Page had a weekly primetime TV show in the late 50's. The singer discussed in the question was on a daily TV show in the 1950's. The Singer had previously starred in successful shows on radio and had appeared in Hollywood movies. The singer was active in all these activities in the 1930's & 40's.

Marsha, what's so sad about this story is that John Garfield didn't get the lead role in Clifford Odets play, golden boy. And then, being loyal to the group, he stood back and played a small part in the play,--Watching Luther Adler play the part that he was born to play. Time passes and in Hollywood, William Holden makes his debut in golden boy, thanks to Barbara Stanwyck's help. BUT we do have a beautiful movie that John Garfield made in which he plays a gifted violinist. Humoresque is truly a great movie. So we look at it and just imagine what golden boy might have been with John Garfield. Sad but very good question - -

I have to say, Miles, you may be more lost in the fifties than me. So we're talking now about Fess Parker, who became world famous as Davy Crockett. And then later he played Daniel Boone on television, why not? Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier--

I remember the story vaguely about additional songs. And It seems as though you're talking about TV stars in Astaire Rogers musicals. Well, we all know that Lucy hung around RKO during those years. She did a lot of bit parts in the series. But as we all know, we all love Lucy, but she can't sing. So I have to go with Ricky Nelson's mom, who was in follow the fleet, along with Lucy. Harriet Hilliard sang Get thee behind me, Satan. That last word was probably censored in England. Well Miles, dancing is easy. All you have to do is let yourself go and relax, just let yourself go--

Miles, are you sure you're not a tap dancer? With that answer, will have to give you honorary Capezio taps, Mr. 2%. Head'em up! And move'em out, Miles!

Arsan-- we have here indeed 2 correct answers for this question Colin Clive - - is your answer. he fits all the criteria Ernest Thesiger-- my answer fits all the criteria (He appeaed in as you like it on Broadway with Katharine Hepburn But the reason we're talking about either one of them is James Whale. Happily for us, they both came together as an odd couple in the Bride of Frankenstein. Colin Clive as the legendary Dr. Frankenstein. And Ernest Thesiger as the notorious Dr. Pretorius. Arsan, as the Brits would say, well played-- you are up -
Hint#2-- starred one of the greats of screwball comedy

Fred Astaire first created his conception of the top hat number in a Broadway show. He starred on Broadway with his sister. But in this particular show,he and hs sister shared billing with one of Broadway's top stars. In fact the star had the top billing. As in the original question, we need the name of the show and the name of the number.
