  1. IN the Jolson story Al Jolson flies cross country from his Hollywood movie set to be with Ruby Keeler for her opening night on Broadway. Truth of the matter was that he was there every night jumping out of the audience and singing that song. Hollywood didn't make that up that was a true story. Can you remember what song he sang, who wrote it and the show that it came from?

  4. well, Fra, its funny face. And you are talking about the babbit and the bromide in the MGM Ziegfeld Follies performed by Kelly and Astaire. This 1927 Broadway show was written by George and Ira Gershwin. The number where Fred Astaire dances in evening clothes is called High Hat. FYI - - Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly take a few numbers together and that's entertainment 2--1976
  5. Movie star Norma Shearer was on a vacation when she saw this beautiful girl in a photo. So the girl in the photo became in MGM star just like norma. And the girl was Janet Leigh.

  10. " My dear, when you're as old as I am, you take your men as you find them - - if you can find them."
  11. This actor was a star in the late '50's and early '60's. He was always intimidated by the memory of his father, a great stage actor. He was nominated for an Academy Award, but it was his role in another film that made him world famous.
  12. Robert Taylor Next: Virginia McMath
  13. And now I can hear Cary Grant - - Arsenic and Old Lace
  14. Marsha, Walter Brennan became so famous and so popular that he became a star. He really was the star of the character actors, as you have noted. He won the Academy Award three times, a record - - tying him with Jack Nicholson and Daniel Day Lewis. I think that I saw his first notable bit part in a talking movie last Halloween. It was James Whale's The invisible man. I guess he wasn't saying anything, Because he was an American type character actor in this British type film. That was 1933. My favorite role that he was in was Gary Cooper's sidekick in meet John Doe. He works very well with Gary Cooper. And later I suppose, with John Wayne as well.
  15. HINT#3--WB Hired him as a threat to Errol Flynn. But he became Flynn's friend.
  16. Jesse Ralph was in after The Thin Man with Elissa Landi.
  17. Hint: this movie is not as serious as Ayn Rand. This movie is what we fondly call a romantic comedy.
  18. miles, this is a good question. I always knew that Stan Laurel came over as Charlie Chaplin's understudy, but very few people ever mention it. Apparently he was the senior one in the duo, having the talents that he had for direction and writing. In France Laurel and Hardy or as revered as Charlie Chaplin and Jerry Lewis. I don't think people realize that in the United States
