No perhaps about it, if it's anything to do with England, Swith is there. They have a terrific film resume separately and together. This includes, the Richard Brooks movie filmed in Kansas, "In Cold Blood"--adapted from The Truman Capote book. Swith, if you ever get up to North London, say hello to my friends in East Finchley and have some fish and chips on me. Swith, it's all yours.....

This couple had very successful careers in the 50s and 60s. Both were nominated for the Oscar, but he alone took one home. However, she did garner an Emmy. He worked behind the camera, while she was a well-respected actress. Although he started as a screenwriter, he later successfully added directing and producing to his credits. His films were generally dramas, which tended to be gritty, realistic, and often violent takes on modern life. Sometimes his own directing methods were characterized as being violent. She was admired as an actress for her versatility. She acted in some of the best examples of a number of genres--the western, film adaptations of a novel, a musical and even Shakespeare. When you identify this couple also give at least one film credit for each. Hint#1--He was a first generation American, she was born in a foreign country.

2912) "Four Girls in White"--starring Alan Marshal and Florence Rice--a MGM "B" film that has some contract players earning their salaries, while Metro saves money by utilizing the "Dr. Kildare" sets. 2913)"Without Love"--A Hepburn-Tracy film that is not so well known because it's hardly their best effort, but not their worst either. And these two are always worth the effort to watch. -

Don't think so with Lucille Ball. There was another actor who helped Van Johnson to have his first big break by protecting him professionally when he had some serious difficulties. Lav, You've got 4 so far and Kay Thompson was, indeed, very wonderful!

Sep-- I really enjoyed going to those "Star Trek" movies with the original cast. The audience was a scream. One time I was late getting into one at a very big movie theater in Kansas City. Nearly All the seats were full. There was one empty seat next to me, but I was so engrossed in the movie it was a while before I turned to see who was sitting there. And the guy next to me was dressed up like Spock-- ears and all. I never asked him if he was just a fan in a costume or a real Vulcan. But we were all Trekkies. -
Sometimes a beginner in show business is fortunate enough to be mentored or sponsored by an older and more experienced professional. You might be surprised who helped whom without which that performer may have never been a success. Identify the mentor or sponsor.
