Rip torn was in King of Kings with Hurd Hatfield (1961)

I confess, I've never had a compelling obsession to meet any game show host. But to get this game a-goin' again, I'll choose Barker because I would rather preclude the need for a deal with having the right price at the get go.
Would rather meet Judy Garland or Deanna Durbin ?
(probably been asked already, but ... )
L.

Judy Garland who is my favourite female singer of all time - they shared the screen by the way in a screen test for MGM. Deanna would later be picked up by Universal.
Next: Between two 1960s pop acting idols:
Bobby Darin or James Darrin.
-
Doris Day was in The Tunnel of love with Richard Widmark.
-
6) Her first imdb credit is a TV series called love of Life from 1951.
-
Hercule Poirot because I love Agatha Christie, although I love Maigret too.
Would you rather star in a mystery drama or a mystery comedy?

Great list, Marsha. And I'm sure are plenty of performers who have gone uncredited as writers--especially to revise scenes they did on camera. I would think Robin Williams added a lot of his own material into the making of GOOD MORNING VIETNAM.
Shortly after Robin Williams died I borrowed a DVD of Good Morning Vietnam and all those radio diologues were ad libbed. There was about 1 hour extra bonus material that did not make it into the movie.

Too bad Bogie and Hitch never worked together

That would have been wonderful.
Glad they met each other, however.

Peter Ustinov and Warren Beatty come to mind
Personally, I say yes, and would like to add Buster Keaton to this list.
What about Harold Lloyd?

Roger Corman mentioned that Jack Nicholson was a great writer of screenplays and could have had a long career as a screenwriter if he was not such a great actor.

I only recently saw Love letters for the first time earlier this year. There are quite a few Joseph Cotton romances which are normally not available to us on TCM Canada. Joseph Cotten is one of those actors I want to see all of their movies.

ACTUALLY: It's Von Zipper.
Sigh.
I hate times like this, when my compulsive need to correct people trumps my profound shame over the astounding number of completely worthless things I know.
PS- Oh, it's also THE WILD ONE, singular. Only one wild one in that movie. Two Wild Ones would've just been too much for America at that time.
Well, you know Lorna.
When I talked about watching a double feature of Peter Fonda and Bruce Dern movies hosted by AIP director Roger Corman, I referred to The WILD Angels as The TARNISHED ANGELS - not once, but TWICE in two different threads.
Oh, well. I knew what I meant.

Robert Montgomery played against type in Night Must Fall and there had to be a special trailer made before MGM films for his fans to get used to the idea.

Monday daytime is RICHARD WIDMARK.
There are some great films listed.
There is also the unfortunate attempt to recreate Spellbound with The Cobweb - superb cast that is really awful.
You have to see this film to understand how much an opportunity was missed.
-
Monday:
In the evening, our theme is TCM Canada, so ther eare some differences between the two countries.
I would like this post to focus on the daytime:
RICHARD WIDMARK MOVIES
Most of these films are great films.
The Cobweb is not. You have to see The Cobweb to understand how badly a great cast was wasted.

This must be a strictly Canadian thing, like METV or all the channels here in America that show ooooooooooooooooold TV Shows and the occasional movie 24/7.
Yes, Silver Screen Classics focuses on movies no more recently made than 1969. They air them often. They also air movie shorts in between movies.
SSC was the way I got to see Fear in the Night starring Deforest Kelley.

Did you get to watch Story of GI Joe yesterday, Bogie or record it?
-

Recount....
Still My darling Greg.

A good example of what Princess of Tap means is Bobby Darin.
Bobby Darin idolized Sinatra. he wanted to sing like Sinatra.
But there already was Sinatra.
Bobby Darin knew he had a short time to live because he had suffered from and nearly died from Rheumatic fever as a child.
This disease shortens your life span. Bobby died on the operating table for open heart surgery at the age of 37.
How do you become Frank Sinatra's type of singer when your days are numbered and you ar living in the rock and roll era?
Well, you first enter rock and roll.
You write a song called Splish Splash I Was Taking a Bath. It becomes a smash hit and you are a teen idol.
You make teen movies with Sandra Dee to whom you will be married.
Gradually, you start to write songs that are in between rock and jazz like the song Dream lover.
Only then do you record Mac the Knife.
When Frank Sinatra hears your version of mac the Knife - remember you are Bobby Darin -
Sinatra is so impressed that when he records his version of mac the Knife with the Quincy Jones band, he lists in the middle of the song people whose version of Mac the Knife he admires-
INCLUDING BOBBY DARIN.
That is when Boby Darin knew he'd accomplished his goal.

I must (must I?) confess that My Way is a bit overdone.
It would have been nice if Frank Jr. had been able to sing it before he died.
Of course, Paul Anka wrote the English language lyrics for his idol - Sinatra.

FAVOURITE HITCHCOCK PERFORMANCE FOR 1945, MALE OR FEMALE:
SPELLBOUND was released in 1945. Tomorrow, Bogie56 will switch the Favourite Performances Thread from 1944 to 1945.
I like to have a separate category for Hitchcock among my unique Non-Main acting categories.
Here are my nominees for my favourite performance in a 1945 Hitchcock film - big surprise who the winner is?
not really:
INGRID BERGMAN
GREGORY PECK
LEO G. CARROLL
RHONDA FLEMING
MICHAEL CHECKOV
WINNER:
Gregory Peck in Spellbound
(I know. Shocking.)

Marlon Brando was of German, Dutch, English and Irish ancestry. His family name was Brandau, a Germanic spelling, which was changed when his ancestors came from Germany in the 1700's. His mother's family name was Pennebaker.
But the point was - he was NOT ITALIAN, which seemed to be of importance to Spence in talking about the actors and director involved.
But thanks for the correction - with the spelling I thought he was French. I certainly did not know he was NOT Italian until after he died. Why, I don't know. I guess it never occurred to me to look up his family history.
Interesting that his sister made The Big Heat as Glenn Ford's wife. Of course, me being a fan of Glenn Ford MIGHT hae something to do with the fact that I brought up this film in the first place.
