Spence. I am not sure if anyone told you. I joined this website in late January and so I never met him, but apparently the man who called himself Fred C. Dobbs died in December. There is a thread about him under his real name in general discussions.

I saw this for the first time only in the last couple of years and it really helps with the comedy if you are a fan of Hitchcock. You get all the in-jokes.

Thanks for the excellent write up about The Man Who Would Be King, Tom. I want to see this a second time to see it for the film itself and not as an adaptation of Kipling's writing only which is how I tend to watch Kipling movies for the first time because of my relation to him. The first time I saw it I was analysing the movie too much. Of course, now with Sean Connery's dementia there is an added poignancy to the film. Christopher Plummer was at first unrecognizable to me when he came on screen. His is my favourite portrayal of Rudyard Kipling so far among what I have seen.

Frank Sinatra was a great admirer of "Something" which George wrote. I don't think he ever recorded it like he did "Yesterday," but he always said he loved Something.

This well known Bob Dylan song was sung with incorrect lyrics in a comedy which irritated the character played by the lead actor. The actor who sang these incorrect lyrics met a long time companion on the set of this film. Name the song, the incorrect lyrics, the star and the person who sang these incorrect lyrics. Extra points for naming the actress but it is not required.

I've always been fond of these AFI lists even when I don't agree with them because they start fun conversations about the movies themselves and maybe hone in on what films need to be restored for future generations. Sometimes what wins Oscars aren't necessarily the best score of the particular composer. I seem to recall a TCM featurette where the Oscar finally came for a long time nominee who never won before did win for Thoroughly Modern Millie. My favourite scores tend to be written by specific composers and cover several eras and genres. My favourite composers of all time are on AFI's list more than once: Henry Mancini Bernard Herrmann Ennio Morricone Elmer Bernstein John Barry Alfred Newman David Raskin Erick Wolfgang Kornwald

Maybe he had colon cancer as well? I can't remember. There a lot of screen giants from that era were paid by tobacco companies to smoke their products on screen.

You know I tend to spend a lot more time on this site during the times when spam is at its highest volume in the games and trivia forum where most of my posts take place. I only really became a fan of that forum when I noticed it usually did not get spam. Now every forum does. I did not even realize there was a way to see who was making the most posts per day until Lawrence pointed it out to me. Mostly, we are in the games and trivia thread I also tend to spend more time online when the weather is bad. Eventually I will get used to the fact that I have a laptop after not having any pc for two years during which time I could not be online at home. When that happens I won't be posting things so often and "liking" so often. It is still new to me. Eventually, I will start posting only in certain threads. And likely during certain months that are extremely hot outside I won't be online at all as the laptop creates a lot of heat by itself. Of course as TopBilled pointed out, new members tend to be likely to post quite often because everything is new. If ClassicMovieRankings hadn't started posting links to his site here, I would never have registered and simply have read schedules only. I see I have posted a lot in a short time frame. But I have no idea where I was when I made my 2,000th post as I didn't mention it in the post. I know my 1,000th post was made in Bogie's thread about favourite performances of the 1930s but I didn't mention the 1,000th post in my 1,000th post so I did not notice. Sorry if I am boring people with my errors due to bad typing. I can always blame gremlins in my machinery.

I collect cds of movie scores and various artists of certain composers. I must have around 1000 or more cds. If I do not periodically change them, they don't get any play time.

Hi, Classic. I have left a message on your George Cukor page. I have seen 31 of these movies so far. I listed my favourite ten movies in no particular order.

Any reason given why it is not airing in USA either? Not that it makes any difference to us in Canada, but I wonder why?
