I cannot remember how I got access to Dead at Night. I saw it once, and remember it well from that one viewing. I would like to see it again sometime.

TCM and Other Sources for Classic Film

I was so happy when I first saw I Confess to learn that Maldon had been in a Hitchcock movie. It's not that I did not LOVE the fact that Clift worked with Hitchcock, but I knew that Clift was the star of the movie. It was not until after the film started and I realized that Karl was in it that I knew he and Hitch had ever worked together. I always thought that these two would make a great film together. -
Henry Fonda was close friends with RICHARD WIDMARK who married Susan Blanchard after becoming a widower.

JERRY LEWIS ON A NEW "PVT. SCREENINGS"
GregoryPeckfan replied to spence's topic in General Discussions
Nicholson is healthy as far as dementia is concerned and did an interview in Closer magazine to discuss that. I'd love to be able to attend Film festivals or cruises, but that is not likely to happen money wise or travel wise. However, I LOVE that these interviews are filmed and aired the next year on TCM and I do see these are the current version of Private Screenings. I am looking forward to being able to see the interviews with Sophia loren and Norman Lloyd. I haven't check the schedule to see what time they are airing, but these are ones that interest me. -
My favourite Spencer Tracy movie of his films with Katherine Hepburn changes over time. Currently, it is Adam's Rib. My favourite Spencer Tracy era is the 30s and 40s where he made a lot of great films I watch multiple times such as Libelled Lady or Boomtown. My favourite Spencer Tracy film overall is one that has always been difficult to define in terms of genre, and it's the one you have mentioned as the one you want as your avatar: BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK. Every one on the set was in awe of him.

That's right. I love his character in this movie. Arsan, your turn.

Canadiana-Trivia About Canadians in Movies
GregoryPeckfan replied to GregoryPeckfan's topic in Games and Trivia
That is correct, Azure. Jim Carry played the lead in a Dr. Suess How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He is well known for his weird faces that don't require make-up. He is now on a Canadian stamp. Your turn. -
Q PLANES AKA CLOUDS OVER EUROPE: 1939 This 1939 war comedy starring Olivier, Richardson and Hobson was new to me. Limey described it not long ago so I will not relay any plot at this time. It was a good follow up to Bon Voyage which I saw earlier today. The previous film was a propaganda movie which had a sad ending, realistic, and not what England wanted. this was a solid Hooray for the Allied Forces movie. Fun film.

Gremlins are going to change all of our posts overnight so that we appear idiotic, especially for those of us who type with one hand. We will see who is so superior in thought and mind to tell people what to do. We don't remember anything GOOFY at all, especially not involving word puzzles.

Your Favourite Performances from 1929 to present are...
GregoryPeckfan replied to Bogie56's topic in Your Favorites
You know, Lawrence. I don't have her down in my list of Best Actresses either for much the same reason. There was no supporting acting category then. And as far as I am concerned, the ONLY lead in this film is William Powell as he is the only person who is in the entire film. I am not sure that I would even consider Loy to be a lead actress even though she is playing Billie Burke, Flo's second wife. -
Rewriting this clue to refer only to the new movie: In this movie the party scene was ad libbed to appear as any crazy party scene. It included a man with an eye patch arguing with a woman who then took the eye patch off to continue arguing. He did not need the eyepatch. To get away from a fenced in corner of the room, another man held an iced glass of alcohol to the back of a woman who exclaimed "Was that really necessary?" New hint: This movie was based upon a book by an author not usually associated with comedy.

Bumping this up now to combat the spam that is in this forum: This comedic Canadian actor has starred in a non-animated version of an animated Christmas classic. -
Yes, it is. This is the film I use when I point out that sometimes the original cannot be beat. It's your thread.

Princess: You have a broad range in genres just like I do to a certain extent - at least until horror movies started to be gory. Then I don't like them. I have decided to go ahead and post my favourite ensemble now even though it is not past midnight Eastern and I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this category. (I'm on the west coast) I base my favourite ensemble on a film where everyone in the cast even the bit players are memorable. I do use the movie for other awards. Again, I have a separate special category for Hitchcock films as I am a Hitchcock fanatic. All of my finalists were movies which starred William Powell. The other finalists were: After the Thin Man Libelled Lady FAVOURITE ENSEMBLE WINNER: MY MAN GODFREY: William Powell Carole Lombard Gail Patrick Eugene Palette Alice Brady Alan Mowbray Jean Dixon The reason? William Powell and Carole Lombard were married and divorced before this movie was made. William Powell wanted a great comedic actress to play the lead and asked for Carole Lombard to play the lead. What a classy man. -
Different genre entirely for this clue: This movie from the 1930s starred two people who had once been married to each other playing love interests because the male lead asked for the actress to appear in the film.
