  1. I've never been to Disneyland and the few rides I've been on in Vancouver made me ill. I'm trying to remember when I first saw this movie. I know I was an adult. But I was still not that old. I knew the song Whale of a Tale long before I saw the film. I have a book of Disney Songs.
  2. 8) There was a lot of dark humour in the 1967 war film The Dirty Dozen which Lee Marvin led. This includes the scene where Cassavetes and Marvin have a hard time not laughing in the first scene where the 12 line up by height.
  3. Did Capote ever meet Judy Holliday? She had a high I.Q. too.
  4. The Guns of Navarone on TCM. Don't ask me how often. I've lost count as this is my favourite movie of all time. I think I have mentioned this before. I saw a documentary on this movie and Gregory Peck said that this movie is a favourite of a lot of world leaders. Hmmmmm. What to say about this that I haven't before? I could start a thread on this movie alone and never run out of things to say. This reminds me of fond memories of Mom and I being in Greece.
  5. Thanks for these choices. Isn't it funny how JLR played Cary Grant's mother in North By Northwest and Grace Kelly's mother in To Catch a Thief. By the way, I meant to post this here: ClassicMovieRankings has completed his \Ultimate Movie Rankings page on Mr. Claude Rains. Here is the link: http://www.ultimatemovierankings.com/claude-rains-movies/
  6. 501 Look at the couple who forgot to set their clocks ahead last night and came late!
  7. I am fond of both versions for different reasons. Okay: Here is an easy one: Which song figured prominently in a Hitchcock film as sung by one of the leads and one of the supporting characters as part of the story, which lead sang it, and what did this singer think of this song in general?
  8. I haven't seen The Ghost Goes West. I wonder how many others share your opinion of SHE? I haven't seen it.
  9. All of my cats have hated mean HATED high singing notes and high notes of any musical instrument. As a singer who sings high notes this presents a problem.
  10. THE CLOCK CHANGES AT 2AM: Miss Fixit wanted everything to be calm and organized. It was necessary for everything to put in its proper place and for nobody to touch her things and rearrange them without her permission. She wrote down a list of everything she needed to do and put it up on her fridge. She made sure everyone who stopped by the cottage got the list of things that needed to be done. She supervised everyone in the kitchen while dinner was made and then the dining room when everything was served. After the party, there was a great mess left behind. Miss Fixit was tired and did not want to clean up. She did no want anyone else to clean up as she knew where she wanted things to be put back and did not trust servants to not break dishes. So she sent the servants home. She set her clock to go off at 7am the next morning so she could clean up the kitchen before going to church. The alarm went off and she got up and cleaned the kitchen. Then she took a long bath and washed her hair and marveled AT HOW ORGANIZED SHE WAS. Then she got out her Sunday best and dressed up with perfect fashion. She went to church, but nobody was there. Wasn't it Sunday? Was everyone sick? She walked the empty streets until she found some people drinking in the county pub. She asked the why the church was deserted. She was told that everyone had been in church. Where had she been? She related how she had gotten up early to clean the dishes. "Oh, didn't you know Miss Fixit? The clocks changed an hour ahead last night at 2am. How did someone so organized make such a mistake?" Miss Fixit blushed and ran away. She never criticized anyone for being disorganized.
  11. 6) Lee Marvin was an one of the best episodes of The Twilight Zone entitled The Grave.
  12. THE POSTS AND MISS MUIR: Miss Muir was fond on dominating the posts on a website devoted to talk of movies. She posted everywhere no matter what the topic. She felt safe to do whatever she wanted because no one knew her real name. She hid behind her avatar to make passive-aggressive comments about anything where she felt superior to the person who originated the thread. She derailed several threads talking about things like milk containers. She started to talk about porn movies in a thread about film noir. Really, Miss Muir, there is a separate site for people who want to talk about porn. It`s in the genre section. Then she decided to tell a new poster to shut up about how she feels about crime movies when hearing about how the Legion of Decency through Sister Rose views movies dealing with violence without actually reading the thread. Did the thread reveal too much of personal details. Perhaps. But it should have been a private message rather than quoting the very post that she thought should be eliminated. Miss Muir started to get messages from others that were passive aggressive in themselves in threads like 20th Century Vole and Vicious Rumors because this latest poster was ticked off in retrospect and likes to find creative ways of dealing with anger in positive ways that can be funny. This angered Miss Muir so much that she decided to diss Disney movies. That was war to people who love Disney who considered being passive aggressive on the Looney Tunes thread. Soon everyone was making passive aggressive posts. Suddenly it was no longer fun for Miss Muir. She reverted to the Games and trivia thread like everyone else does when Spam infects. Miss Muir to be played by Mary Astor. The latest poster to be played Audrey Hepburn. Directing the movie will be Terry Gilliam
  13. Hi, James. You have just shown a great example of how my `non-movie` comment in the Legion of Decency can still be read by people even though I was told to shut up and rewrote my original comment even if people put me on ignore. Really, what are private messages for here anyway. I am not going away. I will however, make posts that fit the thread and not talk about a separate genre that derails the topic. That is what Vicious Rumours and Spam Fairy threads are for. I am a big fan of Mason, Douglas and Lorre, so issues others have are not important. I love the seal scenes. Cheers.
  14. 3) Lee Marvin started out as a supporting actor in a variety of movies before becoming a major movie star in the 1960s.
  15. John Travolta so we could sing together Next: Fred MacMurray or Frederic March
  16. 1) Lee Marvin was the first -and so far only actor - to be nominated for and win a Best Actor Oscar for playing duel rules. He was twin brothers in the comedy Cat Ballou.
